    AI wingmen engaging ground targets

    I've always struggled with this in CFS2. How can I get my wingmen to engage ground targets? They're great at attacking aircraft, but because I can't designate a ground target, when I give the "attack" command, they just mill around. I'll have them on my wing right before setting up a dive bomb or strafing run, but they just dick around.

    Is this because

    a) there indeed is a way to designate a ground target, and I just haven't yet figured out how, or
    b) there is some other logical explanation?

    Many thanks!

    BTW - having an absolute riot with Ocean Fury - it's like a new sim compared to the old PTO stock campaign. I'm just wanting to develop my wingmen's careers a little bit ...

    Delta Lima,

    You can designate ground or sea target for you wingmen to attack.

    Use:

    Shift T to bring up your tactical display
    T to cycle from air to ground or sea mode
    Tab to select your target

    Here is a screen shot showing a ground target selected and designated for AI engagement.

    Aha! Well, I can't blame the troops for being lazy if their flight leader doesn't communicate, huh? :mixedsmi:

    Thanks - will try tonight.

    DI;
    Over at simviation there is a download tutorial guide by Tango Romeo titled "AI_ FLIGHT_TUNING". It deals with exactly what you are asking. Due to TR's desires I don't think it would be proper to post here.

    thanks,
    Success - I had inadvertantly made my mode toggle "M" instead of T. Life is good, and those lazy pilots can now earn their flight pay, such as it is....
