    Hi all

    I have an effect that I like but it only runs for maybe 5 mins then stops before I have to turn it off and activate again for another 5 mins..is there a way to edit the effect so it stays on constantly when turned on

    Just a quick glance thru your effect looks like its the lifetime of the 4 emitters. They should probably be set at 0.00, 0.00.
    That should fix your timing problem and allow the effect to run indefinite.

    That was my thinking too but even set to 0.00 on all it still only lasts maybe 5 mins..got me completely baffled

    Off the top of my head... Is this effect activated by a gauge? If so, the gauge (such as an xml) may have limiting parameters that is turning off the effect. Like altitude, manifold pressure, temp, etc.

    Thought2: after you made the changes to the effect file and FS9 is active, then you will need to load another aircraft, then back to the original to activate the change. Or you can shutdown FS and restart.

    Try it the old default way, if you haven't already, where it is in the smokesystem section of the aircraft.cfg only and then activated within the sim with the "I" key.

    EDIT: I activated your effect, with the Lifetime changes, on Milton's D18 just to test it out (the old default way). So far have been running for 15 minutes without a hiccup.
    EDIT2: 35 minutes and still churning black smoke. (???)
