Hey Milton, just a quick "where is it" question. What parameters did y'all change to get the night fighter's slow prop startup to look so real? I'd like to apply it to the other variations and if possible to several other big ol' props.![]()
Doug Dawson built this capability into a gauge for the A-26 project.
You can borrow the capability straight from the A26-B or C packages. Full instructions for use are there (in the Documentation folder) and it explains how to use the starter whine sound as well. In the F7F, I just added the gauge without the sound.
To use the gauge only, simply and easily with just the cntrl+e start, drop this gauge definition into your panel.cfg window00 or vcockpit01 section. Adjust the gauge99 number to be next in sequence.
gauge99=A26_engine_start!engine_start, 2,2,2,2
Copy the A26_engine_start.gau from the A-26 or F7F panel into your aircraft's panel folder.
That's it. Have fun![]()

Thank you kind sir. I was just checking the list of thingies I routinely add to my prop powered birds and there seems to be a huge pile of bits with your name somewhere among the credits -- like start up effects, vintage transponders and the like. It just makes the bird that much more real to me --IMHO
Again, thanks for all you have done and continue to do making this hobby such a pleasure to pursue.![]()
A large Thank you for you and at the team of SOH for your achievements.
serge, a french man, I use your creations for a long time, it is time for me to thank you for the pleasure that you have me and brought to us.
I like the older plane, I prefer the average twin-engines, i've used the Howard500 first , and after , came the D18S , the best for me (i've all modèles and all textures).
Now, i see the F7F,realy a pleasure.
I am allowed to read again all this station, with difficulty because I do not speak English, but I am very happy to see all this work completed, when one knows all difficultées that one can meet it.
Receive this Hello north of France and all my congratulations for this work carried out.
serge.
Hello Mr Shupe,

For the Tanker, the droop not work in FsX ?
I've flight also with hélicopter, and for the F7F-Tanker, i've put the effet of this hélicopter on it, and, it's run good :
At Hovercontrol.com /Download files /go to files librairy/ FsX Hélicopter Downloads /page3 /HC_412_Bambi_Bucket_No_Doors_FSX ...
I've put the effet file : "fx_fire_retardant.fx" in FsX/Effet ..
And in the aircraft.cfg, i've copy the line :
HC_412_Bambi_Bucket_No_Doors_FSX/aircraft.cfg / [Light] / light.11=1, 0.0, 0.00, -25.850, fx_fire_retardant ,
And put it in the aircraf.cfg of the F7F :
F7F-Tanker / aircraft.cfg / [Light] / light.3=1, 0.0, 0.00, -25.850, fx_fire_retardant ,
Renome the number Light.3 ...
Now , it run with the Key "i" , a red retardant , a beautiful fog red, it remains marked on the ground a few time, you can remake a passage to see whether your shot were good...
Good flight and blue sky, Thank You Sir, serge.

Milton, I'm afraid I have lost track of what mods supersede what mods and which version is the latest (not interested in the tankers or two seater). Could you or someone else with that information give me a hint about which download is the latest?
Thanks
Think I found it. . . .has a posted date of March 10th and file size is almost 59meg. Downloading now.

Did anyone ever produce a paintkit for the F7F-3 RTWR version? I was thinking of making a SOH Team paint for this years race.

Thanks Milton at least I can have a look and see if it's worth my effort seeing as I'm as busy as a busy thing right now with the build up for this year's race. You can drop me a PM or an email with the details or jump onto TS and upload them to the file browser and I can grab them from there. I'm on TS every afternoon and evening (until late).

Larry can you make me one with the normal special modification?![]()
Milton you and everyone else involved with this do such a fine job you feel guilty for doing nothing more than flying them when they become available! My hat is off to you sir!
Interesting food for thought - was one of these ever flown against a P-38 in the real world? Would have been interesting to see the results. I've read similar things with P-47s being flown against F4Us (both had same engine), it really came down to pilot skill.
Another interesting match-up - RN FAA F4Us against FW-190s. Both outstanding radials. Who would have come out on top?
Is there a way for me to change the U.S. insignia to show where necessary under the lower right wing or on top of upper left wing?
