Scenery HEADs UP for Sky King & the Flying Crown Ranch

D/L this scenery from flightsim - http://flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=145534 Paul Young has done an update to the FS2002 Bill Lyons scenery with a new ranch house and stuff, kind of fun. Worth a looksee, back to the late 40s and Silver wings. File: skyking-1.zip.

Thanks for the heads up on both the scenery and the link to watch "Sky King." It was one of my favorites as a child. I also like the "Whirlybirds" series.

I can't seem to find Len's Ez Walls and Fences. Anyone have the complete zip file name to search with?

David Grindele just posted all the object files at Flightsim yesterday in two posts. They will have all the EZ files.

Opps! The vintage cars, tractor and truck are in a bgl: vintage.bgl from another scenery as well as the needed textures. The World War II Naval Air Station scenery at Flightsim:

Whenever you download a scenery file even if you don't like it, you should always check it for new object files. Often it's worth keeping active just to have the objects available such as the one above with the vintage cars, animated sailors, and blimps etc.

You should keep all your object files in a single folder in Add On Scenery Folder. That way, no duplicates, which slow down loading and framerates. It also keeps you upto date, and you don't lose them if you shut down/delete a scenery.

Your right about that, moving the object librarys is easy but how does one sort out all the proper textures for the objects from a scenery file. Not all the textures are for objects.

Two ways to sort out the vintage car textures - First, and my favorite, copy all textures from the ww2 file or second choice, takes a minute or two - cherry pick just the ones that are of cars. Have done it both ways. OK, D/l attach

Thankyou, Ed, for sorting out this little faux pas. It wasn't mentioned in the readme, so your efforts may save many a lot of frustration. Sure helped me out.

Thanks for the vintage cars zip, too.

FYI: I use EZ-Scenery (Abacus) - so I added a folder called 'Vintage Cars' with scenery folder and texture folder and added it to the scenery data base - now I can place vintage cars on my computer scenery at will (smile). Also have a few sailor and airship objects (grin).

Another thing to watch out for. Different scenery from different authors in a few instances have made different object textures with the same name. So when combining textures into one folder don't allow an overwrite, these objects and textures will need a new folder when this happens.
