Does your cat join you in the bathroom?

My cat absolutely loves joining me in the bathroom. It doesn't bother me when he hangs out while I shower or brush my teeth, but it's downright wierd when his enthusiasm extends to joining me when nature calls. What was even worse was when he had a catbox in the bathroom, and he'd join with his own activities. Am I the only one trying to handle business while a cat stares at them with glee?

This is him. For your benefit, I've elected to show a reference picture not involving the above.

    Cool looking cat!

My cat (a silver tipped Himalayan) hates the bathroom as she is a long hair and needs regular baths, which she really hates, LOL.

Our big ol fat cat joins me every time when I hit the bathroom. Reason..... she's spoiled and wants a drink from the sink. And if she doesn't get what she wants, she will verbally chew you out. Yep, 20 lbs of Tiger and Siamese mix.... very vocal. But she's got gorgeous blue eyes that will melt yer heart.

We have two cats, brother and sister from the same litter. Carmen has no interest in the bathroom but loves the computer room. She often sits in front of the screen and tries to catch the mouse pointer as it moves around the screen. You'd think that in 10 years of not catching it she would have figured by now that it's uncatchable !

My cat, Isabelle tries that when we are eating, never works on me, but my GF falls for it every time. I think she has learned she has more power with my GF and that it gives her a little leverage, LOL. I don't let my cat in the bedroom when sleeping and sometimes she'll come to the door, place her paw under the door and meow and my GF will be like "can't we just let her in for a little bit?" "she sounds so lonely" blah. blah blah, what a sucker, LOL.

Ours would sleep with us if she could. And if the 2 dogs would let her. LOL

Her and her "sister", CeeCee the goofy one, get shut in the basement at night to sleep. But if the wife doesn't get up when Bertha thinks she should be let out or feed her morning breakfast, she raises one hell of a ruckus. You can hear her no matter where you are upstairs. And she doesn't stop til she gets what she wants.

I don't get it. The bathroom is the coolest place to him.

He also loves to 'help' me clean the catbox, and climbs in to bless it as soon as I'm done.

Auggie, our 10 month old kitty, follows me around the house like a shadow. Not all the time, just when the mood strikes him to try to trip me by throwing his 12 pound butt in front of my feet with every step I take. And if I happen to go into the bathroom, he follows me in. I when I am answering the call of nature that men do standing up, he has to look into the toilet to see what the heck is going on...ever tried taking a tinkle with a cat head the size of a small microwave blocking one half of the air space above the toilet. I have entertained the thought that if I "accidentally" nail him between the ears a couple times, maybe he would stop following me into the bathroom....but I know that Deb would never understand and would simply tear me apart. The way I see it, that would even the score a little bit...he peed on my carpet, I peed on his cranium...we're even!

HAHA, you and everyone else has considered it. It wouldn't stop them from coming in, you'd only end up having to clean the cat and awkwardly explain yourself.

I've got a female Hemingway cat named Squeak that is fascinated with the toilet. I keep thinking she's going to fall in someday.

Yes I have had a few who seem to like the bathroom especially the tub on a hot day in Ohio.

When it comes to cats in the bathroom it reminds me of these two videos.

    The original

My cat barely leaves me alone. From the moment I walk in the door till the time I leave he follows me everywhere (including the bathroom). He really doesn't mind water since he needs baths being a Himalayan. Don't know what it is with him though. Our old female cats never did anything like what he does. Think it is something to do with their attachent to certain people. Is what I read anyway. They pick a "special" person and then refuse to ever leave them alone.

I'm okay with that. I take him all over the place, such as petsmart. I've taken him on business trips too just for fun. Getting a cat socialized by taking them out really gives them a depth of personality other cats don't share. My cat and I have a certain connection now, like many good dogs. I've only seen him hiss once.

All three of our cats find ammusement in trying to trip me ..

One sits at the shower till I get out..

One follows me everywhere I go

One hides everynight at bedtime, and is rerely found

    Gotta love em though !

    Ooooh, is that a Bengal?

Bengals are beautiful. They're also nuts.

Or is it an Ocicat. I don't think they're crazy like Bengals are.

My Rowdy seems to be part Bengal and he's nutty as a fruitcake. Crazy as a loon. Completely deranged.

Rowdy loves to sit on my lap while I'm sitting on the John. I have to fold my arms underneath him so he won't fall through.

He won't come up on my lap any other place.

He's also been known to join me in the shower.

I learned something from that. If you're in the shower with a cat perched on your shoulder, and you suddenly move so that the cat gets hit with the spray when he wasn't expecting it, you're likely to get severely lacerated when he launches himself over the shower curtain. It doesn't matter if the cat's already soaking wet; it's the surprise that gets him.

That's Rowdy below, in my signature banner.
