Thank you Smashing Time, for the heads up! I try to stay on top of all of the new movies that get posted to ASB, but I had yet to see this one. What a great promotional piece for the Duxford air shows! I feel much the same as Beasley describes, even when just using GenX England photo-scenery in FSX - when you look down, you are still seeing almost exactly what you would have seen during WWII, nearly 70 years later, now, in living color. I especially enjoyed seeing the archival footage included in the video - which I believe most if not all of it shown, is held by the The Fighter Collection, or one of the other museums at Duxford. In one scene you can see Col. Landers ( Big Beautiful Doll) and his distinct nose-down landing style.

    Humbling... thanks for posting!

I love Flying Legends... the memories linger for months...

I took the controls of an aircraft for the first time in my life at Duxford, one of the Tiger Moths there... I will never forget the first time I got to say "I have control"

Well, no, not really mate. Britain from the air has changed considerably in the last 60 years. I suppose you could fly over undeveloped areas like Dartmoor or Scottish Highlands and see a pretty good approximation, but elsewhere its motorways, urban sprawl, trading estates and windfarms. Even the agricultural landscape has changed with the removal of hedgerows. Duxford itself, 7 miles down the road from here, now has the M11 motorway passing by at the eastern end of the runway.

The Britain of GenX is not really the Britain of the 1940s.

Spellbinding...their flying looks immaculate, what could focus you more than the living memorial that is Duxford?
