Hummm...my first impression is that I really, REALLY do NOT care for the format.
I sure hope there is a good reason for making this change and not just because it
is the bewest gizmo with bells and whistles that really are not necessary

    Paul

EDIT: I can't see a forum index. Getting some message about not allowed to view this page when
I click on "Forums". The only way I got here was by clicking on "What's New".
All I want to get to is the "News", the "FSX" and "FS2004" forums.
I don't care "What's New" in the rest of the site.

And this all white background and small font is really straining my old eyes!

I managed to stumble upon the Forum index page but don't ask me how I did it.

The biggest complaint I have is the tiny text size and the lack of good contrast between the "read" and "unread" posts.
The old forum had nice LARGE TEXT and the "unread" dark blue thread subjects were very easy to differentiate from
the lighter blue "read" subjects. In generale, the new format is kinda whimpy whereas the old format was BOLD.

This looks too much like FaceBook and I really could care less for things like a calendar( I have one above my monitor
for the current month and one on the wall for the entire year!) , blogs, friends lists, etc.

    Hey Paul,

Yeah. I know they hear ya!

I need a magnifying glass myself to read my post while I am typing it.

And I know they are going to do something about it.

All we need to so is let them know, and they will fix it...

I know Ickie needs a magnifying glass as well... LOL...

    Let us just be patient....

They have worked real hard on these day and night 24/7

And we had a few hours test on it...

There are still some things to improve...

    They did a great job....

    Thanks ....

Well I got on to the forum too (after a while!) But when I click on 'Home' I get the brush-ff message (lack of privileges, etc). Then I can't get back into the forums !

I agree, if it ain't broke.........but then that's the modern way, progress at all costs, even if it takes you backwards.

if you're in Firefox, press Cntrl and + together...it'll increase the font size. Use "-" to decrease it...

im sure the same thing is true in Explorer and Safari (mac)...

the new forum is pretty slick. Im sure w/ some custom graphics...it'll feel right at home again (i miss those clip-art looking images on the upper left...hehe)

    The older version was corrupt
this will take some getting used to but
after a couple of months we will not remember what the older version looked like
there are still a few quirks to fix
    but we will get there
CK and Ickie have been working overtime

at least we did not have to start affresh
i do not belive too many people would have been happy
please just have a little patience

I must agree with above criticisms as to format , size, etc.- DO Not Like and do not understand why we had to re-register at theSOH .net side.............but today it really is the SOH .com forums etc. again?

As to "...not having to do it over..." , Henry makes a very valid point.....
    but,
for the CFS multiplayer crowd. there is no advantage to having our "...own flight sim..." (CFS 1,2 &3 must still do IP games)
The photo uploading does not seem user friendly as before on auto resizing for example and I am a bit upset that the five albums i had with some irreplaceable photos are gone? I hope I am mistaken.

Multifly that by amount of members who had pics, albums, avatars, etc. on their profile.

I just wish we were given a time so we could have backed up some things prior to being locked out of the original site.

I fear this change may drive away even more from the community.

I have no qualms, but Feng should never tell a Firefox user to hit Ctrl +, I tested and it increased 'Enry's avatar threefold!

    i believe you are confused
avitars and everything are still here
the soh.net side is a completely different site
and we could not merge the members its on a different server
the fact of no online for the combat sims
    we are looking into it
but thats a matter on that site

It took me about 16 years to figger out the old SOH. I don't have another 16 years to share with you. I don't believe the new format makes any improveent. It's like Windows Vista. Just different, but not an improvement. They should have wasted their time improving the old SOH instead of trying something new. I guess this will be my last thread
    Good luck.

Blame the hackers and spammers not me for the changes.
Our old code was 12 years old and no longer supported. These changes were forced upon us for security reasons.
Its like MS force you to get a new OS they no longer support windows 98 and it is a security risk. the same reasons apply here.

I am saddened of all the bitching, If you do not like it here, well I said this before "Don't Let The Door Hit You In The Ass"

What he said. I don't see a problem. We just did the same thing over at Transload for the same reasons. It internet is a cesspool and is a never ending battle to keep your site free of the filth.

Good job Ickie and everyone else involved.

Looking good - I like it!

    Sorry, guys:
    What's this excitement all about?
Everything still is in place. All the signatures, avatars, PMs and all the other stuff!

Well: The buttons look different - so what?

    It's our Outhouse after all!

I shared migrations and upgrades on other boards before, but I never ever experienced a board change as smooth as this one.

Thank you so much for your hard work, Ickie (and the other ones involved)!

    Cheers,
    Markus.

I think these men have done a Great job..
It is a FREE site..Unless you have given to this place and are supporting however you can I don't see anyone has a right to complain..

I am unemployed, and have No Income,, But when God grants me the ability I shall send what i can..
And even with the changes, it is still the BEST site to get FREE items..
BRAVO TO THE TEAM, AND THANK YOU for EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE TO ENHANCE OUR FLIGHT SIMMING....
