    TWO PLANES FROM ONE WHEN SHOOTING

    Ok, I know that this has been addressed before but I CRS about the answer.
    I get in a dogfight with a Zero, get on its' tail and put a nice burst into it. It explodes and gives birth to another plane that floats downward as the mother plane also drops to earth. What causes this and how do I fix it?

    To cure that you may find this useful:

    Evil Twins

    Fibber,

    That is usaully caused by an old DP file carried over from CFS 1. The break points are handled differently in CFS 2. The link above should help you edit the DP file of the offending aeroplane so that it doesn't spawn a twin when shot down.

    Jagd, there is a problem with Yashico's AI B-29. You do damage to it and it don;t clone, it just divides into halves, one half keeps flying. Will the mods you gave us the link to fix that?

    Thanks

    Smile This happens a lot . . .

    Most of the time this problem is caused by a problem within the model itself. This is why I take time to shoot up my aircraft before I call them finished. Every part in the model, including the parts in the LODs have to be labeled for breakaway purposes. If they are not labeled they will breakaway from the aircraft as soon as you get a breakaway trigger from the .dp file. So if for instance you shoot off a wingtip, which may not down the aircraft, it still will trigger the wingtip to break off. If LOD number two has no "parts visible" set the whole model will break away from the aircraft and plunge to earth along with the wingtip you shot off.

    I am not a fanatic about breakaway parts when I am flying CFS2 so if I like an aircraft and it is doing the clone plane thing I just remove all the triggers from the .dp and then there are no problems . . .

    Odd. I didn't realize that the problem could lie in the model too.

    If the issue is still in the DP file just remove the triggers in the DP file and hopefully you will have a solid plane again.

    Just look for Break lines the DP:

    [EFFECTS.XX]
    ; System = Nose Structure
    effect.0=10,LIBRARY,fx_smkpuff_s,
    effect.1=30,LIBRARY,fx_engfire_s,
    effect.2=60,LIBRARY,fx_engfire_m,
    effect.3=95[LIBRARY,fx_airexpl_l,
    effect.4=100,BREAK,6, <<<<----- Offending number

    effect.4=100,BREAK,, <<<<---- Corrected data line

    In Yashicko's DP file, look for Effects numbers:

    0, 14; 18, 21; 22, 23, 27; 30, 31; 33, 34.

    Sometime ago, I tested all the available B-29 aircraft for the highest frame rates. Yashico's Superfortress won hands down with almost a third better frame rates than the next contender. For a combination of detail and reasonable frame rates, Gnoopy's B-29 is probably the best overal B-29. All of them are good planes though. It just depends what you need, detail or frame rates.

    1. Silvia's (Piloto azul): 90 FPS
    2. Sky Queen: 100 FPS
    3. VB: 40 FPS
    4. Yashico AI: 145 FPS
    5. Gnoopy's: 65 FPS

    THANKS GUYS

    Thanks guys.:salute: I knew it was a previously discussed problem, just couldn't remember the answer and couldn't find it in my CRAFT notes .

    Was there a change in the addy address? Suddenly my old bookmark won't work and had to hunt for this one? Just curious.

    Exclamation Hmmmm . . .

    I wonder why the AI B-29 I made isn't on the list. It was a heck of a lot faster than some of the ones you list . . . .

    Bismarck,

    I though that I had them all, but I don't have yours. Do you have a link for it? I can't give it a fair test right now, given my steam powered lap top that I'm stuck with for another six months, but I'd like to add it to my library.

    Hmmm . . .

    The only place you could get it was at SOH so you can't get it right now . . .

    I'll pick it up when the new server is on line. Shouldn't be too long now.
