    The cowl flaps are such a prominent feature, it's difficult to wish them away...
    Don't know what the redistribution requirements are for the FDG model, maybe someone here could upload it temporarily somewhere?

    A small taste of the WIP

    Those who have the Recorder Module might like to try this- it's a first stab at the Breitling Fighters display.
    You will need 4 aircraft with the following first lines in the aircraft.cfg:

    title=F4U-1A Corsair
    title=P-51D 'NZ2415'
    title=P-40E_1 (e_rnzaf_1) #1
    title=Spitfire MkIXe Airshow

    The flight is at Wanaka NZWF, and the airfield elevation used is 1135.2 ft asl.

    The track should be called up as "Fly as AI" as it consists of several individual takes stitched together - thus if you fly as one of them, it will stop at the end of the first segment.
    Much more fun to chase them, preferably with the Realair Spit.

    It won't be for everyone, but I can say that I haven't had this much fun in Flight Simulator for as long as I can remember...

    EDIT: I tried attaching the RM file as a zip, but seems it was too large at 1.7MB.
    Anyone wanting to try it can PM me with an email address.

    Charl, you are right!
    The cowl flap's apperance is of course significant for this plane, but labelled with 'possible rendition' (or maybe 'artist's impression'), I think this one won't be too bad:

    I found out that the patched model version by Guy Hulin will allow seperate upper and lower fuselage textures, and it has different sets for the cowl flaps as well. So maybe I could tweak the skins some more and add the current scheme of 5648 too...

    Cheers,
    Markus.

    Forget about the blank cowl flaps:

    Now for the rear fuselage...

    Fine!

    But let me please finish this 'european airshow scheme' first:

    Don't mind the panel lines and rivets - they are still overdone for adjustment reasons.
    The roundel of course has to be resized...

    Here wo go now:

    Although I tried hard, I couldn't get rid of this tiny white vertical stripe in the middle of the fuselage where front and aft textures meet - one of those nasty model issues...

    Will be packing today!

    Cheers,
    Markus.

    btw: Good to see SOH back again!

    Great, looking forward to having a little play with this one.
    And I agree - good to see SOH survived the transplant intact

    Sorry, folks! Packing will take a little longer!

    I'm currently fiddling on this one, subsequent "three-livery-pack" intended...

    Oh yes, it does.
    Please forget all my suspicions concerning the Aeroplane Heaven Corsair!

    I received a very kind - and totally legal! - offer I couldn't resist, and now I'm a proud owner of this bird.
    It's brillant!
    Sure it needs some computing power, but even the 'full' version runs as smooth as the A2A Jug on my system. No reason to try the 'lite' version.

    Now there are just two problems:

    1. ZK-COR (the USN '8' livery) was already done by John 'Bomber12th' Terrell. I can't do any better!

    2. The Alpha Bleu Ciel Corsair suddenly doesn't look this fine to me anymore.

    Solutions:

    1. Two schemes of NZ5648 left for me to do on the AH bird. Later on...

    2. Gritting my teeth and get those darn pixels set in the right places. I began it - now it's a matter of honour to get it done!

    Close, but still not close enough...:

    Man of high principle!

    Actually your kind sponsor might have a good business case - I will certainly buy the AH model when you're done - and maybe a few Kiwis (and others) will too!

    Success!

    I finally got rid of this nasty texture bleeding (vertical stripe) at the borderline of fwd and aft fuselage textures:

    Guy Hulin without any doubt built an awesome model, but he sure has some strange kind of humor when it comes down to texture mapping:
    The area at the foreward end of the rear fuselage section is mapped around the tailcone end - not too easy to figure this out...

    One step foreward again!
    I think I just have to replace the wing roundels and version two of three is ready for the upload folder.
    If wifey won't get too upset, this package should hit the skies this weekend!
