    Icon22 Defense of Australia update...

    Hey all,

I felt obligated to issue a progress report on DoA. As of right now, the Port Moresby campaign that Mauro created for CFS1 has been converted, and I've also updated and completed six of the original DoA missions thus far, with another about 80% completed.

I've been slowed down a bit by a squeeze in my free time and the fact that I simply don't write missions the same way that the original authors did. I feel obligated due to the legacy of this add-on to keep the missions relatively unaltered aside from aircraft and infrastructure updates...so that means I have to study and adapt their techniques to update the missions. However, I have eliminated airstart missions thus far.

Then I'll have to incorporate Talon's missions and do the Japanese side. The bottom line is I'm a little less than 50% done thus far.

I am looking foward to your end result. I just started using sturmovik with the new up2 update and I am looking foward to comparing the two sims with all the up grades for both.

Enjoy the process ... that's the BEST way to view EVERY aspect of CFS2 design. To greater or lesser degrees, it matters not when a project gets done ... don't worry, it will ... but you have to keep the enjoyment factor in the forefront ... otherwise you'll lose that creative spark and we'll lose another great contributor.

As for IL46 vs CFS2 Olaf1924. Just enjoy them both!

    Both are great Sims!

Yes Rami, take your time. What you did with DEI was fantastic. I think it is the first time I installed one of your campaigns. Most likely because I could not do it or they were not PTO. I got an install that is for just what you do in the PTO. I know you are very busy, if you get a minute, can you tell me were to put the Oahu scenery. Does it go into "SCENERY"? Thanks for doing such great work for us!

Comparing the two games is like comparing apples and oranges... they are so different from one another.

Thanks for the update Bro Rami

Take your time. On a related note, I think I'll start putting together the Australian radio chatter today. It will take about three weeks to complete if we have everything recorded and I do not think we do. Anywho, here goes . . .

Another big step today...all of the missions on the Australian side have been updated with infrastructure, aircraft, and I finished all of the mission texts. Now, it's just the .dyn files, which I should be able to bang out pretty quick.

Oh yeah...now none of the missions start in the air.

All fourteen Australian missions in the original DoA have been completely updated. I'm going to take a break for tonight, though. I'll start the Japanese missions this week.

I ended up taking a longer break. Those familiar with mission builder, scenery building, aircraft building, etc. know that occasionally you suffer from "burnout." This was precisely the case with me.

I just did the first Japanese mission tonight.
