Could someone lend a hand?

I've got Vista (I know thats my first problem), ETO is up and working, it does switch eras, but campains wont save. Every time I click in the menu screen the parked plane takes damage, it even says "taking damage". Everything else seems to work it doesn't shut down on me or anything. I'd like to get these bugs worked out so I can get into some on-line action.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanx.....

Hi Gman,

What aircraft are you selecting? Some of the bombers will explode in the UI at certain airfields. This is because they are 'colliding' with a building or vehicle. Try a smaller aircraft or different airfield.

As for the campaigns, no idea on that one, does it come up with an error message?

It only happens in campain, its the stock P-47, IDK, I think I'm just gonna delete ETO and try again.... Thanx guys (Killroy was here)...

Ok I've tried 3 times, this last time I didn't add version 1.2. I had none of the aircraft damage thing going on, but, I still cannot save campains. I REALLY enjoy the ETO add on. I just can't see having the game and just doing the same quick missions over and over. I've got to figure out this save problem, then I'll move onto the problems with 1.2. Someone help, PLEASE...

It sounds like there's nothing wrong with your install but it's something you may not be doing right in the campaign, sorry I can't help but keep bumping this thread up and someone will come to your rescue I'm sure

When you run ETO from an administrator account, would that fix the save issue?
Ot maybe you should dissable user access control?

Yeah I have been running it as admin, and user control is off. After four or five installs I've figured out that the swapper is saying "The system cannot find the file specified". I haven't opened ETO start yet ( that would corrupt era files if the swapper isnt changing eras). This is likely what has been happening. So then how do I get the swapper to find these files? Thanks for the help guys...

I have installed ETO using the new install guide, multicfs3 has reconized the program, and I have changed it to CFS3 ETO Expansion______. I have all icons, and ETO is in the default path. I am using vista and user control is off, I run the program as admin. I have not opened the game because when I go to put the swapper in mode 1 it says "the system cannot find the file specified". It is doing this for all eras. I know after many attempts now, that if I open the game without placing the swapper in the correct era I will corrupt my era files. How do I get the swapper to reconize the correct file? Under the swappers properties the target is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\spawns\ETOspawnselector.bat", and the one below (the start in)is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\spawns". I am very eager to get this up and running smooth so I can move onto getting the multiplayer working. Looking forward to flying with you all soon.

First of all, that is not the Era Swapper you're looking at, but the ETO Spawn Selector. This is only connected to the spawns folder. It has eight selections on the screen.

1. Stock Spawn Mode (for the Quick Combat section).
2. Random Spawn Disable (for missions).
3. Allied Side ETO Campaign (for ETO Campaigns in Eras 3, 4, & 5 only when playing Allied).
4. Axis Side ETO Campaign (for ETO Campaigns in Eras 3, 4, & 5 only, when playing Axis).
5. Allied Side Attack in the West Campaign (when playing Allied in Attack in the West Campaign in Era 1 only).
6. Axis Side Attack in the West Campaign (when playing Axis in Attack in the West Campaign in Era 1 only).
7. Allied Side Phoney War Campaign (when playing Allied in Phoney War Campaign in Era 1 only).
8. Axis Side Phoney War Campaign (when playing Axis in Phoney War Campaign in Era 1 only).



The Era Swapper is the ETO Start icon. Clicking on this brings up a screen with five selections on it. This is the only way you can start the sim.

Era 1. 1936 - Spring 1940 Spain and West '40
Era 2. Summer 1940 - Year End 1942 Battle of Britain
Era 3. Spring 1943 - Spring 1944 Yanks Over Germany
Era 4. Spring 1944 - Late 1944 Normandy to the Rhine
Era 5. Late 1944 - Summer 1945 Battle of the Bulge to V-E Day

Campaigns are selected in-game:

Attack in the West Campaign (Era 1 only)
Phoney War Campaign (Era 1 only)
1943 ETO Campaign (Era 3 only)
1944 ETO Campaign (Era 4 only)
1945 ETO Campaign (Era 5 only)

There are currently no Spanish Civil War or BoB Campaigns in ETO.

Note: You must keep track of the Era in which you are playing and saving a particular campaign.

Be very careful of attempting to open a campaign in an Era in which it was not built.

Example: Attempting to open a save campaign from Era 1 (say, Attack in the West) in Era 3. This will definitely cause problems.

Many items in ETO, airfields in particular, are Era-specific. These are written into the global_layers files. The Era Swapper (ETO Start) controls a batch file in the global_layer folder that switches the global layer and qclocations files. This is the key.

Gman35, four more questions:

1. Vista, right?

2. Did you delete the the entire CFS3 ETO Expansion folder from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games before re-installing?

3. Did you delete the two CFS3 ETO Expansion_________ folders from their locations at C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft and C:\Users\\Documents? You have to do this to re-install properly. This is probably why you are having campaign problems.

Hate to say this, but I would clean all all of the ETO out and try again.

1. Make sure you start with a clean, unmodified, fully updated (3.1 and 3.1a) vanilla CFS3 install.

2. Install CFS3 ETO Expansion 1.0 normally, following the installation guide.

3. Set your Vista mods through administrator.

4. Be sure to run the cfs3 config.exe found in the main game folder (CFS3 ETO Expansion).

5. Fly it at least once in QC, then shut it down.

6. Run the ETO Spawn Selector and set it to 1, Stock Spawn Mode.

7. Start ETO in Era 1 (1936 - Spring 1940 Spain and West '40), fly in QC, then exit.

8. Install CFS3 ETO Expansion Cumulative Update 1.20 normally, following the ETO Installation Guide.

This should fix it.

2. Default location "c:program files\Microsoft Games\ and multi cfs3 found program, changed it to CFS3 ETO Extension_______.
3. I didn't see this in the guide or readme, so I haven't done it on past installs. I did this time.
4. Yes, user account control off, show hidden files, and hide extensions unchecked. It wouldn't let me check the box for run as admin, so every time I use the shortcuts I run as admin.
5. OK and I did not enter campaign.
6. Yes, " The system cannot find file specified ". In Spawnwapper.
7. Yes, It does say exchanging era's.
8. Complete

I went back into game (1 swapper, 1 era) exited.
I tried to change, ( 3 swapper, 3 era) It has let me into game in the past. This time I got both 1943 screens but it crashed before the game loaded. (error has accured ). I then tried to switch back to 1 swapper, 1 era. It then crashed at the second attack in the west screen. I have been deleting eto from program files and from documents and app data (all). I even run a quick clean between installs.
I bought this system just for simming, this is the best I've seen so far (ETO). AcesHigh is to much like an arcade shooter circa 1990. If I have to wipe out this this entire system and re-install windows I'm willing to.

ETO is running again ( sysrem restore ) I get both screens when changing spawns and eras. Flown a couple missions, worked fine. Still unable to save campaigns though.
