Champ camp: Show us your screens.......

It is my sad fortune to inform you that the Champ camp lost a leader. Pointy31, aka Mike Mire, passed into Champ Heaven on September 3rd.

As you all know, many of my repaints and John049's were the inspiration of Pointy, I feel I have lost a true lifetime friend. I am going to miss his Cajun humor and his Cajun Kool-Aid .

    Here's to a Champion.

Oh my gosh! Pointy passed away?!?!?!?!? That is a blow to us all. He was such a character.

RIP Pointy. May you always have clear skies, smooth flights and happy landings. You will be missed.

I can't post any screenshots of my Champs as I not at home, but will post one in Pointy's honor later today.

It saddens me to read that Pointy31, aka Mike Mire has passed away .

I enjoyed the Champ post .... I think it was one of the longest running.

In memory of Mike I'm going to reinstall the Champ and enjoy the simple pleasures of tree top flying.

    Pete.

This has to be one of the hardest posts I've ever had to do. Mike was the main reason I started repainting planes to post for other people. I remember he pm'd me asking if I could do an L-16B repaint for him. My response was 'I'm no Leon Louis but I'll give it a shot'. Granted I'm not the best repainter but I never heard anyone complain, and I got nothing but encouragement from Mike. I am absolutely heartbroken right now, but I know that he is in a better place and that gives me some comfort. I have a couple screenshots of another Pointy-inspired repaint; this one inspired by a real-life Tri-Traveler but it worked out pretty good on the Champ as well.
Rest in Peace Pointy. You will be sorely missed.

Very saddened to hear this, I never really had the pleasure of conversing with Mike, but I will still miss his presence. I enjoyed reading his posts but not being a Champ fan, never joined in. I've slowely come round to enjoying some GA, so as soon as I can, I'll install the champ (link anyone?) and take her up around the Highlands and Islands (sure wish they looked as beautiful and serene in FS as they are in RL as they are a stunning and restful place.)

Fly high and keep pointing at the sky champ!!

Mike was supposed to be a beta tester on the upcoming Super Cub, and this explains the silence. Extremely sad news indeed, and a great loss. I'll miss his posts, and presence in the forums. A really great guy. Sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

So sad to hear this Caz. With his Cajun humour he made us all smile.

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth.
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings,
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind swept heights with easy grace,
    Where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
And, while with silent, lifting mind i've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

    John Gillespie Magee Jr.

    RIP Pointy31

I can't remember any encounter with him that didn't show him to be a man if true upstanding character. His presence here will be truly missed.

Here's my Pointy Memorial Flight screen shot. An unfinished paint for the Long Island Classics Champ. I will finish this in Pointy's memory.

This is very sad! Pointy was only 62! Can't believe he's gone...He was a great guy with great humor.
We've lost a very fine member on this forum. I really am in tears...I wish his family the best in coping with this loss.
