That's some pretty scary footage there. Glad they made it through, too much of a close call for my tastes.

However I'm not sure insurance will cover the repairs, since I don't think using a wing as a hedge trimmer would be considered normal use. :P

Saw that video the other day, close indeed! Hard to know the real circumstances of any incident but flying low level IMC anywhere in California isn't a great idea to start with. Apparently the L-39 pilot thought so too and went upstairs when they got into that stuff.

    Anyone recognize the L-39 btw?

N139CK, Dave Riggs' jet, formerly owned by Chuck Kerber. I was lucky enough to find myself in the same position as the cameraman last August, flying next to that very plane, though a *lot* closer at times.

Doesn't appear to be Dave flying it though.

At our flying club a C150 had a nose wheel collapse on landing - or so they though. Fireservice could not find nose wheel anywhere.

A few months later the army called them to say that they had found missing nose wheel on a hill at a firing range 10 miles away.

Turns out the low hour pilot had entered cloud - remembered a jolt but found his way out of cloud and then landed not knowing it was missing!!

True story - checked with company engineer a few weeks ago.

Yeah, saw this awhile back and what idiot would fly down that valley in all that fog is beyond me, and endanger his and two other's lives. The NTSB avaition accident database has a place waiting for this guy, if he continues to fly like that.

Lets hope he only takes himself out on his next escapade
