    JMSDF Fonts?

Anyone know where can I find some fonts for the numbers on Japan Maritime Self Defence Force aircrafts? Some use the standard USAF block font, but most of others have a very distinct rounded thick font, like in this pic: CLICK

I searched around the internet, but I could find nothing. Many thanks to anyone who can help me locate this font.

Actually Simmer's Paintshop was the first place I looked, I though for sure they would have it, but sadly not.

The second site didn't have it, but there's some really cool fonts there, so that link will be very useful for some other projects.

What you are looking for is called "kanji" script. Try searching KANJI along with the word font. I would be careful with this typs of writing as the same character can have several meanings and it's easy to place an insult instead of a call sign.

    Try here...

Oh the actual Japanese lettering I have already and am very familiar with using day to day in average life. There's little danger though, Japanese use of Kanji is very more rigid than Chinese.

What I seek is a serial number fonts for tail/nose numbers, they're like JMSDF's counterpart to "Amarillo USAF" block fonts on USN aircrafts. I searched so much I'm not sure it's even available in a font, so maybe I'll need to draw it from scratch (was hoping to avoid it). Either way, thanks to all who offered help!

Simmers paintshop has the RCAF_60SQO_ATH font, which looks pretty similar, but the 9s need modification. And the 0 is off some too. I have a font called Galaxy that is close on the 0, but it needs to be enlarged to match the other characters.

What I came up with is this - left side is fonts, right side is rasterized and modified:

    Brian

(Galaxy might be a pay font, but I'm pretty sure I found it in a free SciFi collection - it is a Star Trek font. There is a (definitely) free version called Ensign, which is a knockoff.)

Oh wow, that's perfect! And I even had and used that RCAF font and never noticed the resemblance! The 9's (and by extensions, 6's) and 8's were my biggest obstacles. Now I have a good base to work from it.

    A great many thanks!

That's a good work-around for the 6's and 9's, but I'm still thinking that number style probably has a name. The JMSDF uses the same numbers on the bows of its ships.
