I can't remember if this plane is listed here or not, but it deserves to be:
Douglas Kallen's extreme poly Boeing Stearman.
Simviation.com
I tried linking to the package and the update for it, but the link don't work.....Simviation has changed their software and the links are pretty odd. Just do a search for Douglas Kallen and you will find the two packages.

It's an exotic Indian Ocean paradise, you can bring all sorts of planes here for all sorts of playing:

Can't believe these haven't been mentioned yet; Steve's Hawker Seahawks are lovely renditions of a classic British jet, without doubt they qualify as 'Gems'. You can find them here, along with plenty of repaints:
http://www.flyingstations.com/sea-hawk.html
And I know it is new, but that doesn't mean it is not a gem; the Percival Provost was a type long overdue for a decent model, but Keith Paine has gone well past 'decent', his Provost is gorgeous. You can find it at Britsim.com, just do a search for 'Provost' & make sure you do a search for 'Leonides' as well; any of the soundsets by Gary Jones qualify as gems too, I think.
And while you are at Britsim, Dave Molyneux's ever expanding Auster family are worth investigating; I know they've been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I'm sure Dave must have released at least half a dozen new models since then. Hopefully the move to the new server will sort the download issues at Britsim, but they were always worth the effort.
And I know these models have been mentioned before, but I'm rediscovering them & learning to appreciate them anew; Dave Garwood's Hawker Hunters are superb, imo much better than the payware alternative, and Dave modelled more variants anyway. I'm only surprised that there weren't more repaints done of these models, but I may start to rectify that myself. Available at all good outlets, but easiest to find at Britsim I think.
Andy
Thought this deserved a separate post; Phil's generosity (and the generosity of the designers) in continuing to release some of the older Alphasim products means what once was payware is becoming freeware; and with a little polishing some of these are definitely gems!! A good example of that is the F-4 Phantom's; with Nigel Richards providing us with a superlative J-79 set and Markus (Wild Bill Kelso) and others slapping on the virtual paint, we've got something every bit as good (if not better) than the Cloud9 Rhino (and a sight easier to install ).
All the freeware stuff can be found here.

Nigel's soundset, and Markus, Smoothie and Duckie's repaints can all be found in the library here at the Outhouse.

Bringing this back up to say that I really enjoy flying the Iris T-6A Texan II. Very nice plane, shocked to find it as freeware.

I can't believe this one never came up! This is the Stearman that was used to prove that FS9's polygon limit wasn't really a limit. The author says it's "incomplete," but when I can take off half the panels and watch the linkages from the throttle and mix levers working all the way to the carb, I'd say it's pretty darn complete!

Thanks for the reminder! When it first came out, I didn't bother downloading because I knew my old machine couldn't handle it. Newer computer, thought I'd give it a try this time. WOW! I've never seen anything like this. A true rotating beacon? Operating circuit breakers? I usually follow a minimum 40fps limit in the VC on my aircraft, but I'll have to make an exception for this one to just sit in the cockpit and look around. I still get 30fps with everything maxed out, and it flies slow enough that I don't really notice the frame rate hit. Did anyone ever do a paint kit? Just amazing work. Thanks again, Tom, and a big thanks to Douglas Kallen.
Pat
Take off the covers and then zoom in from the left-front in spot view. You can see the throttle and mix linkages move all the way from the levers to the carb. And watch the brake system when you hit the trigger!
