And because of delays, Endeavour makes it off the pad as well to take components to the ISS.

Strange that the weather cleared enough to let it happen. A reminder from a higher power that we're dragging our feet a bit?

I have seen some very compelling pictures to question the landings...

the pictures and Film that were put out by NASA.....

overlays of a few different Missions that took place at various parts of the moon......with the identical rock formations...and when overlayed they match....

    makes me wonder........Capricorn One.

Well, one a "first" was achieved, it ain't a "first" anymore. Humanity, in the past thousands of years, has already achieved a lot of them, so there aren't many left.

The moon was marketed as a race... that was the problem. Nobody thought about what would follow.

There are all kinds of 'first's' left to achieve... establish a moon base, mining on the moon, send man to Mars.

Those are just the short range goals. How about making some advances in propulsion?

Ion drives are already in development. All we need now is a FTL drive.

I've had this running "live" ever since Bjoern posted the link.
Half an hour or so ago:
    "Houston...Tranquility Base...the Eagle has landed!"
Even typing this I get choked up.
It was an astonishing feat of do-or-die, so many things that just had to work right - first time.
Those guys - all of them - had the Right Stuff.

Indeed a Giant Leap for Mankind.

Boeing is the major sponsor behind "Moonshot", they were advertising it with their news network on-site quite a bit today. Which is fitting since in those 40 years they've absorbed the other major partners in building the Apollo-Saturn, except for Grumman.

    Should be quite a show!

I started watching it. I didn't realize it was going to be a "dramatization.” The introduction narrator said “most of this if fact”, and some “artistic license” was taken, and we “filled in the gaps” with what “might have happened.” I’m guessing the UFO part will be somewhere in the “gap-filling, artistic-license taking dramatization of what might have happened” part… hehe.

An awesome moment that will stand forever in time! I remember sitting cross-legged in our school assembly hall (I was in 2nd class, only 7 years old) and watching on the TV live as it happened (12:56pm for Sydney)! I was an absolute nut for this stuff; I even wrote a while later to NASA and they kindly sent a couple of autographs and some Apollo 17 / Skylab Photos (actual prints!) all those years ago to the kid way down in Australia! Those photos still take pride of place on my wall at home today!
Thanks USA and NASA for having the vision to do something like this; you put a huge smile on this kid's face!
"What do you hear?" "Nothing but the rain!" "Then grab your gun and bring the cat in!" "Boom, boom, boom!"
