A nice collection of FREE Spits and 109s

For those on a budget and not able to shell out the money for payware versions, but who are looking for solidly modeled Spits and 109s to enjoy in FS2002 and FS2004, look no further than Paul Rebuffat's Gmax modeled ones (link to his site will be included below). Paul has covered a good number of the Spitfire variants and 109 variants. All animations work in FS2004 (I am assuming they will work in FS2002...actually there are some FS2002 specific models of some of the planes). Granted, the VCs aren't up to the standards of the usual FS2004 planes, but they aren't all that bad either (I find them to be spot on...detailed enough to look good, but not so detailed that they cause sensory overload). I have some of Paul's Spits running in FS2004 and will be adding the rest of the Spits and all of the 109s (which range from the F up through the K models).

Paul Rebuffat's spit and 109 are classics which will always have a place in my hanger, i use an updated package for the 109 by David Hanvey and Paul Barry with custum skins by Dan Swart and Alessando Biagi. spacificlly for FS2004, i belive its here in the SOH Library but i cant remember their OH name as i belive they where forum members so i cant find it, maybe some one else could jog my memory.
    cheers ian

Obio that is an incredibly valuable find!
Way back, there was a Duxford AI package which used these aircraft as AI.
I remember being amazed at how my computer was reduced to 1 fps as you taxied past them!
Times change, computers get better, and I subsequently referenced them for a Warbirds Over Wanaka AI package.
Unfortunately the link I gave soon expired and many have enquired as to where to find these fine aircraft.
What a treasure trove...for those interested in putting it together (finally!) the Wanaka file at Flightsim.com is wan01.zip.
Actually it is so old, I may just give it a work-over, now that there are planes...
    Many thanks for the HU.

You are right Ian, the updated Bf109 models can be found here: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/index.ph...loadName=paulb

Morton did some very nice repaint packages for them as well.

    Cheers,

If you look through my uploads here at soh you will also find a few paints for the 109's as well.

Love the Rebuffat Spits. I've got 'em flying and converted to AI as well. Thanks Obio for bringing attention back to them!

The only Spit that I was not able to download was the LF IXe in IAF markings. It is a nice clipped wing variant. I am searching for another source to obtain that plane.

Also, I have found that Merlin66's CFS2 Spits (available in the CFS2 library here) work in FS2004 as well...well the couple that I have installed do at least. Takes a lot more work to get them in final form as there were a number of fixes issued for his planes. I was flying around in his float equipped Spit Vb late last night. While Merlin66's Spits are not as sharp as Paul's, he did cover the early Marks that have been over looked by other modelers.
