    FS9 in Windows 7?

Win 7 has been out there free for awhile. Has anyone tried FS9 in Win 7, and how did it perform?...lee

Yes I had FS9 and FSX on W7 Beta and I just installed it on W7 RC.

    No problems

    My system

    Intel P4 3.0 GHZ
    2GB RAM
    Nvidia 7800 GS 256 MB

    No issues with either Simulator.

Mind you I did not activate FSX becuase I knew I would be leaving the beta to go to the RC version soon. This install will get FSX activated but I already know it works having read posts by FAC257

Honestly when was the last time you could even put an OS on a PC built for the OS 3 version back. W7 runs great no problems.

That of course is my experience.

That's valuable info DD, many thanks.
I have an older box that I use for "trying" stuff, and would be great to drop W7 on there for the multimedia features.
Vista was a definite non-starter there.

One thing I forgot to mention.

FAC257 made a statement in this thread below about W7. Only the Professional or Ultimate versions will have support for XP programs (backwards compatability). The Beta and the RC versions that they let people try are the Ultimate versions. I am assuming that Ultimate is the equivilant of XP media version. You may find if you purchase the Home version that FS will not function on it but that is only a guess.

Windows 7 64 Ultimate runs Fs9 extreme with fluid performance at a level much better then the comparable Vista with less garbage in the luggage.

The latest PC Pilot magazine (July/Aug) is very positive indeed about FS9 on Windows 7:

"FS2004 installs on Windows 7 without any issue at all and runs every bit as great as it did on XP. . . . actually had me thinking that it runs even better than on XP"

"FS2004 runs like a champ on modern hardware on Windows 7"
Rats - why won't anything work properly first time?
