    Lockheed Super Electra L14

    ~S~ All
I was wondering if anyone can tell me where I can dwnload a Lockheed super Electra L14 { Howard Hughes} for FS9. I have found one for FS2002 and if this is the only one how can I make it work in FS9?

There ain't one for FS2004. That is one of my DREAM aircraft for FS2004, along with the L-18.

Oddly enough, our own Pstraney had a Hudson for CFS2 and it flies quite well in FS2004. It's based on the aforementioned Super Electra from FS2002 but for some reason the Hudson works fine and the FS2002 Super Electra doesn't. IIRC a couple of them available for download at http://www.virtualwings.org/hudson/index.htm won't work as well but the grey and white RAAF Mk III is a definite keeper. A civvie Super Electra would definitely rock the house however.

I have Mr David Caroll's Lockheed 14...a very well done airplane..but I cannot keep the tail from sinking into the ground. I am forced to fly Mr Dome's Lockheed 14 for FS2000 which works well so far.

    Cheers

Where can I find this one? I will see if I can correct the tail wheel issue for you.

Dave Carroll's series of Lockheed Model 14s can be found on Flightsim.com. Just do a search for Dave Carroll. There are 5 packages, representing various subtypes of the plane...ranging from the solid nosed Hudson to some armed military versions.

THe external modeling isn't all that bad..but the prop animation is of the older style and the props do not show up in FS2004. No VC, no shine of any sort to the model...and can not be shined. The "bare metal" skins are very lack luster as a result of having to shine.

Well, I could not get the tail wheel to fail me at all ... I downloaded the lb14ldc0.zip. I did some other changes to improve handling and tail lift, flap drag and pitch, gear affect on pitch, and AoA, and appearance on the ground.

The FM could use some more tweaking at least for FS2004. I did not try it in FS2002.

If you have issues with it, I would happy to do a quick setup for FS2004.

EDIT: Okay, I have a nice FM for 2004 (Dave Carroll's rig) but it does not work for 2002, if you are interested Casey Jones. I have adjusted all the contact points for better handling and ground appearance as well. This "may" improve you tail wheel situation. Just PM me.

Not sure how I could have missed this one....downloaded the first one of the Australian AF Hudsons from Virtualwings and she is a treat.

We have a rather derelict P2V Harpoon sitting at my home field L67 and every time I taxi by in the Saratoga I tell my airplane partner this would be the plane I'd love to have...if only I had a few extra Million to bring her back to life.

And while I still hope that someone at some point will make a real Lodestar and Harpoon...this is pretty close.

    Thanks for the Heads Up.

    Cheers

ps...Milton if you would not mind too terribly could you post your modifications here ??? She works quite nice on my system but any mod by you has to be better.

    Dear Milton,

I sent you a PM hope you received it. I would appreciate any help you can give on Mr Caroll's L14. I don'nt know why the tail keeps sinking into the ground?

    Cheers

The FM works very well in FS2004 but not FS2002 as I deleted those tables out of the air file.

So, if you have FS9, here ya go. If you are flying FS8, please do not even try this.

Download, change the name to eliminate the .txt so that it becomes a .zip file.

Unzip and copy the two files to your aircraft folder.
Keep in mind this is from the original so if you have extra liveries, please save your files so that you can copy over your changes, or revert back if you do not like what I have here.

BTW, at one time I created a base version of the Howard 500 (close to the Super Ventura) to share with anyone who might want to create a freeware version. It might be a good start. All animations are in place for FS2002/2004, control surfaces and gear and landing lights. Anyone is welcome to use this without further permissions. The Gmax source is attached.

I took a few hours to do a FS2002 flight model since the model is an early version and used in CFS2.

This corrects many things and improves a few things. It's not necessarily accurate but it is a nice flyer with a 220 cruise and ground ops are good.

As before, download, change the name to drop the .txt. Then unzip.

    Hi Milton,

thanks for making that available...I would certainly love to try that. But my Gmax skills are not even at the beginner level.

But it never hurts to take a look I guess.
