Thread: The Ongoing Mystery Aircraft Thread Part Deux.

  1. #2326
Have just done that - no difference.

  2. #2327
I have had this issue several times, usually after resetting my browser to default settings.

    Two things to do:

    1. Add www.simhouse.com to the Security/Trusted sites (uncheck requires certification "https")

    2. Then, in the Security tab, Trusted Sites zone, set Medium Security, then Custom Security Level options: enable activex controls and plugins and java

Checked all that out, Milton. Still no go. Just been on another forum where everything is normal.

  4. #2329
Wout- I think we have all surrendered on your helo.

Lefty- I wish I knew what the problem is. Have you tried another browser?

  5. #2330
Yes I have tried in IE, and everything is OK. Have checked all the security settings, nothing untoward. Baffling.

The helo is from Romania, the Rg-8H1 Tantar by IFIL-Reghin (Yes, of Rg-7 and Rg-8 fame). Flown 1960 and 105hp Walter Minor 4-III engine.

I will be gone for about a week, please continue with OPEN HOUSE.

Kevin, you'd better dig one out. I am scunnered (old Scots word) with computers and everything to do with them at the moment.

Bought a CIS system for my Epson and can't get the thing to work, my netbook is playing up, and these forum woes of mine have defeated everybody.

Where is the nearest monastery ?

  8. #2333
EUREKA !!!! Did you note ? LINE BREAKS. Let's try a smiley

Oh joy unconfined. And, I have done nothing to bring about this reversal of fortune. Ah well.......

  9. #2334
Ah, the mysteries of the computer world...

BTW- That helo from Wout was way off the radar!

Picking back up with this twin tail fighter-

  10. #2335
Ha ! This is a Laville DI-4, designed by a Frenchman in the good ol' USSR.

(Test flown by Bukholts & Piontkovskii, naturally).

  11. #2336
Spot on. Was beginning to think I had a stinker here.

  12. #2337
It is a stinker. Just one I was able to find (unlike Wout's !)

    Continuing the stinker theme......

  13. #2338
When in doubt, dig through hypenated French builders. What a horrid beast!

  14. #2339
    No French Connection here, Kevin.

  15. #2340
Only other gut feeling is something USA but I don't think I'm going to find it.

  16. #2341
Right, it is very obscure, The Dybovskii Delfin, built at Riga (now Latvia, then still part of Russia) in 1913.

    Something much easier..

  17. #2342
After the Delfin, anything is easier! Only found one vague reference to it.

    That the Morane-Saulnier MS-700 1?

  18. #2343
Spot-on with the French mistress as ever, Kevin - over to you.

The Boss and I are taking a 10-day sabbatical in that foreign country, England, where we hope to visit some castles, some gardens, some wildlife sanctuaries, and maybe the odd aviation museum. (Don't tell her.) Oh, and perhaps the odd pub may feature in the itinerary too........

    See you soon..:ernae:

  19. #2344
    Thanks Mike. Have fun.

    Next up, a 4-engined airliner-

HeHe, I've struck gold - the White Bear, part of Theakstons brewery in Masham, Yorkshire. What a delight. State of the art small hotel, great food,Theakston's ale, and even WiFi !!!
(For those of you reared on Miller lavatory cleanser, Theakston Old Peculier is one of the truly great beer experiences - Whirlybird James will tell you)

I know what Moses'mystery is but I'm not going to tell. So there. Night night.(hic)

This was the prototype for the last aircraft ever designed by this long standing company.

    Couldn't agree more.

Mystery looks familiar but can't place it.

edit: some sort of herald prototype variant?

  23. #2348
Yup, this is the Handley Page HPR.3 Herald prototype with the original four piston engines.

Found a nasty one here. But it was real and did fly (tethered) as can be seen in the photo. Un-tethered testing wasn't possible due to a small disagreement with gravity which killed the program.
