You are getting to good at this BG
right!!! Cheers!!<strike></strike>
Single boom pusher is the Ackerman JDA-8 powered by a notoriously unreliable Szekely radial.
Curious, I checked this one out - once I discovered that there is no 'c' in Akerman ! Even more puzzled to discover that I correctly guessed it in this forum back in 2011 - can't imagine how.......
Oops on the typo! As noted there is no "c". In my excitement to post an answer I got a little sloppy. Have only seen one other photo of the pusher so BG's find is appreciated.
Will have a new mystery along soon. Sorry for the delay.
The <small>PSE Racer</small><small> [R10358], perhaps?</small>

The Pacific School of Engineering or PSE Racer it is. I guess the class graduated and nothing more was built!
That might have been a pitty
Here comes the next wee challenge.

gX
Built by a famous company, modified by/for a famous aviator, used for "sky writing" during its last days.

gX
Not from Eurasia. The company still exists nowadays. This particular aircraft started life as a two-seat version of an aircraft that has been built four times. The picture shows it in its final configuration after two major modifications.

Howard Hughes' Boeing 100A ?
Yes, for sure. Cheers Mike

Thanks, gX - no apologies for going back to the water - here's a speedy number making a splash.....
I think gX knows this, but will give one more clue anyway - it was an unsuccessful entry for one of the great aviation competitions.....(hint- it's on water !)
Putting the clunker out of it's misery. The Latham L.1.
Yup. One of the two unsuccessful Latham entries for the 1923 Schneider Cup.
Continuing the theme, here is an unsuccessful fighter.
Impressive BG, and without any hints!
The only other photo I have is WWI French Ace Albert Deullin standing by the slightly modified version that he lost his life in during a May 29, 1923 test flight.
This one from the Green/Swanborough book....(M. Duellin's version appears to have dispensed with the wing struts - may this have contributed to his demise ?)
