    Sorry guys...

After I answered the last one I had:
    1. grandkids over for the day
    2. kids over (to reclaim the rug-rats) for daughter-in-law's b'day
    3. sick wife who decided it was more than bad food
    4. 6 hrs at the hospital to determine that she had appendecitis
    5. a quick run to work until I could drag in a replacement
    6. back to hospital to get her into/out of surgery
    7. 3 hrs of sleep after 30 hrs of the above list

She's fine, I'm tired.. oh and dodging the bits of a Royal visit with stops a mile away (at the same hospital).. nice side of it is a sky full of Griffon helicopters and CF-18's over the last 24 hrs.

Glad someone leaped into the void... now what is that Beech Sierra-based trainer called... too tired to remember..

"To some the sky is the limit. To others it is home" anon.

Goodness Rob. Take care of the Mrs!

  3. #5578
I'll second that Rob, but take care of yourself too !

In the meantime, the crafty Dutchman has posted one of those identikit trainers, similar models of which have been built in around 142 countries.................hmmm

Yes, take care of your wife and of yourself first Rob!

As for the aircraft; it was designed on one continent but is used on two others... And it's not based on a Beech.

Why are we, poor Dutch, always to blame. We gave up our colonies long time ago.

I did Mike. I herewith offer my resignation and will pick up my hobby of collecting old Ferrari`s again.

Was it politeness that nobody came up with the correct answer, or am I not the only one with a short memory. I humbly offer this new one.

I have seen it also called a Hilton Model 1000 Super Midwing. It that what you were referring to Walter?

Hi Kevin, that is the one. Would this Hilton be related to Paris? (or v.v.)

The single-engine job in the hangar is not a homebuilt. In fact, production numbers reached the figure 3.

Two were built in the country of origin and the third one was there never completed, but finished in a country far away.
Production of 1,000 was never reached.

The photo looks vaguely familiar but can't place it at the moment.

I believe we've seen this one before recently as well.

The designer is well-known (I donot know whether he worked for the company as employee or as independent designer). Almost all designs of the company came from his hand. Earlier and also later designs of other companies did not carry his name either, but he did assign his own designations, but these were hardly ever used.

If you are interested, I can post the list. Please let me know

Aside from the landing gear this is a dead ringer for an Aeronca Chum, but the actual ID is eluding me. When it's been ID'ed I'm sure we'd all love to see the list. I never turn away free information.

    SIPA S.1000 Coccinelle circa 1955

Thank you, John, this one was driving me nuts - like Kevin, I recognised it, but was barking up all the wrong trees.

Would be fascinated to hear more from Walter on this one and the others by the same fellow!

The Sipa S-1000 Coccinelle it is! The third one I talked about was not completed in France, but in Argentine as homebuilt project. I think it is still flying around there.

Yves Gardan (1925 - 2009) was a very active designer and he used the initials GY.
    GY-10 - Sipa S-90/S-94 series, GY-20 - Bearn/Cab Minicab, GY-30 - Bearn/CAB Supercab, GY-40 - Sipa S-200 Minijet, GY-50 - Sipa S-300R, GY-60 - Sipa S-1000
Coccinelle, GY-70 - Sipa S-1100, GY-80 - Socata Horizon, GY-90 - Sita Mowgli - GY-100 - Sita Bagheera. On this list only the GY-90 was never built. It was basically a 2-seat derivative of the GY-100.
Other designs in which Yves Gardan was involved included the Sipa S-20, S-50 and S-70 and the Socata ST-10 Diplomate.

DHC2Pilot to you the honour, please

also the GY-110 Sher Khan. Full 4-seater derived from the GY-100 Bagheera (the GY-100 was a so called 2+2 seater with a fixed u/c) with retractable gear, stretched fuselage and full 4-seater). Helas.... the GY-110 was not built .

    Very interesting! Thanks for that.
Alrighty, I sense that Kevin is just chomping at the bit to ID another parasol, so without further hesitation:

I know I have seen this photo before. Must...identify...

  24. #5599
Suspect it's from your side anyway - can't find it....

Stahlwerk Mark R-IIIb. I knew that chap standing in the back was a distant relative of Sgt. Schultz from Hogan's Heroes.
