Time to reveal. This is a Northrop A-17A Nomad that Douglas borrowed to test air foil sections for the giant C-74 transport. Not sure if the outboard props were powered by small engines or just windmilled. Don't know why Douglas didn't just use something of their own as a testbed.

Maybe better luck with this spiffy twin boom amphibian-

  2. #2652
Spiffy indeed - I suppose if I ever wanted the ultimate prezzie from Santa, a small amphibian would just about fit the bill. (plus a course of flying lessons, natch)

This one is the Airmaster Avalon 680.

Pretty certain I'm right with this one, and we're not going to hear much from Texas for a while (apart from a few cows snoring) so we'll push on with another smoothie..

Awfully quiet around here... Not many autogyro experts here?

This one was designed in the sixties by a pioneer on gyros; the desing was later bought by a different company though they never built any.
The owner of the company under whose name this gyro was built once moved a large object to an entirely different country, piece by piece..

Thanks, got lucky on that one. Not my strong suit.

This twin boomer has been in the queue for some time. Was trying to dig up a better photo but what the heck. All I have is this frontal shot and a small front profile. Should be enough for you experts!

  11. #2661
This one is of historical significance. A one-off of course.

    Looks like a Burnelli design..
Intel i9-13900 Raptor Lake , Be Quiet! Dark rock slim cooler, 32 Gb Corsair DDR5 RAM, MSI Z790 Tomahawk motherboard, Asus RTX 4060Ti 16Gb, Thermaltake 1050 Watt PSU, Windows 11 64-bit 1 m2, 4 SSD, 2 HDD.

  13. #2663
Not a Burnelli. You can strike the USA off the list...

  14. #2664
This wouldn't be our old chum M.de Monge again ? The 120, maybe ?

  15. #2665
Not a De Monge effort or from France...

  16. #2666

    Open Board

Right. Bit of a stinker here. This is one of the original MacRobertson racers, the Harkness & Hillier Monoplane of Sydney, Australia. The story goes it was displayed in a department store for a while to help generate interest and funding. It did not get finished in time for the race but wondered if they flew it afterwards. Anyone have a better photo?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
    <o></o>
Will be out of action for a day or so. Declaring open board here-

  17. #2667
    OK - I'll bite again - a familiar looking fighter ....

  18. #2668
    Finnish VL Pyorremyrsky...

Darn sure about it, so open board, folks

  19. #2669
Here's a grainy girl for you all......

  20. #2670
That, sir, is an Albatros L.9

100% on this, so here's something a wee bit later..

  21. #2671
    Looks Germanish at first glance...

  22. #2672
    No, it's not even Germanian.

  23. #2673
It is Western European, and 4-seater advanced for its day with leading-edge slots, flaps and welded steel tube fuselage.

  24. #2674
Right, were becalmed again. The stinker was a Bodiansky 20, which was French, from 1930.

    Here's one that isn't French..

  25. #2675
Bodiansky 20? Only a fevered troll through Aviafrance would have brought that one up!

Your new one looks Polish....wait better Czech that...
