The picture suggests, so me, something agricultural. Perhaps something adapted for crop spraying. It has that rugged, robust look, which is redolent of a crop duster, and the terrain looks rather rough and unprepared, rather than manicured aerodrome turf. But having said all that, I still can't identify it!

Scenery looks like the USA. Was thinking some kind of mutation of a Fairchild XNQ-1 or something like that. The fixed gear is throwing me.

Yes, we're in the USA - it's Northrop field. A famous aircraft with around 1,500 produced, usually seen with floats but some with fixed gear. This particular machine is trying out an experimental wing.

    The Ikarus 231.

Open House - if it is.

    Cheers.

This one should not cause too much fuss.

  12. #10912
That, sir, is the Bloch MB60 - first aircraft produced in his own name by Marcel Bloch/Dassault. Very neat too.

In spite of the fact that the game has proceeded without my confirmation, may I take the liberty of confirming (though belatedly for which I apologize) Green's statement re the Ikarus 231 (merely an Ikarus 211 with added greenhouse)....
    Cheers

I thought you guys had Rule 1 in place, which allowed the thread to continue? Seems fair to me, especially if someone unexpectedly dies.

If you are confident on your answer, you can post a new picture without waiting

Quick stab lefty - The Southern Cross SC-1?

  17. #10917
    Lefty, I feel VERY confident!

    So...

Sadly, I must depart and prepare for work Lefty.
Now, if you feel confident - by all means carry on!

  19. #10919
Perfectly within the rules about not waiting. It happens here and there.

I posted the Bloch just so there would not be a several hour gap. Just trying to have fun.

    Hi Mr. Green!
Thanks for the pic with N-number.
New challenge did first fly some 20+ years ago.

My first reaction, Walter, was that, looking at the calendar, you had posted this a couple of days early !

However I suspect it was one of those homebuilds that everyone in the US seemed to have in their backyard in the '80's. Wouldn't be another Miller, the GEM-260, by any chance ??

    Hi Mike!
If unsolved by then, my answer will follow at the date you were referring to .
But, honoustly I did not have that date in mind when I posted this picture. The aircraft was started 1973, first flew 1992 and was damaged in a forced landing (engine trouble) in February 2000 and the N-number was cancelled later that year.

Don't see how it could have cleanly rotated on takeoff without scraping up the lower tail.
