Thread: Thanks Cessna for killing further FSX development

Thanks Cessna for killing further FSX development

Cessna apparently requires FS payware companies to pay licensing fees in order to sell products for FSX using the Cessna name. I find this insane.

So far three payware companies I know received a letter/call from Cessna telling them to stop right now or legal action would be taken.

    Lame...

    Screw you Cessna

Nice! :help: They sure are small people in this world. Well maybe they will go belly-up or are headed that way so are grasping for air. Just hope others don't follow these little ones!

If it's payware only, I can somehow see Cessna's point. Yet, if they want fees for any FS rendition of their aircraft regardless of pay- or freeware, they can shove their licensing fees up their arse.

Yeah some SOB pencil pusher... the only power the meek of the world hold.

For some time he has been tugging on the pant legs of his bosses pointing out the money they could bring in. Finally he got his wish... the bosses threw him a scrap and he went scurring back to his corner to relish in his life's accomplishment.

Junior Executive of the Year award.... the peak in his sad life... all downhill from here buddy.

In later years he will point to the dusty cobwebbed statue sitting on the fireplace mantle and cry.

    Justice will prevail...

    Its really a shame.....:caked:

I would think that they might look at it a free advertisement....

Who knows..the youngster flying Cessna's today on a computer might be the exec. that buys a fleet of them in ten years just cause he enjoyed them so much on computers.......

I think they deserve fair royalties, but instead, they have a hollywood sounding media corporation that is managing this. They (the small firm) requires a yearly 'subscription' based on how much money you make which they charge, and its a huge amount. Then you must 'also' pay a monthly amount of percentages directly to Cessna, which is actually Textron, not Cessna.. Cessna is only a small group in the Textron conglomerate.

So.... You pay about .50 cents to a dollar for each sale, plus about 10% of your business, yearly. That can range from $1,000.00 to $10,000.00 each 12 month period, which they embarrassingly call 'paperwork fee's', lol.. (expensive copy paper.. try wallmart).

I am fairly sure they dont wish to have payware Devs making Cessnas for payware sales or they would be working with these groups rather then raping them. Fair is fair, but demanding an amount of money that will take months to recooperate, then its due again shortly after, is not fair.

The way I see it, they will lose a "LOT" of interest and thats fine. Thats their way of business. They think millionaires arent into FS? How about if the only thing in FS were competitors jets, like Falcon! Then they will be the only ones in the spotlight and Cessna will become invisible. An eye for an eye, and things will work their way out, and it was their decision...

Just call it a, "Lessna" and when the buyer gets it he can have it changed for free by a nice person who wouldn't mind doing it, plenty here, lol. They use loopholes, why shouldn't we? :woot:

What I don't get is how two companies that produce Cessna models get by without the royalties, or maybe they are paying them, not for certain....

One just made a nice 172 and the others working on a Citation for FSX

Yet DF was doing a P210 I believe and they had to stop..... some of the best products out there....

Now, just remember, this is the company that decided their newest model should be made in China---:argue:

I was about to suggest "Cissna".

Nothing new here, this started many years ago with plastic and model railroad models. I don't like it, but it's legal since the name and/or likeness of a company's products are being used.

There are ways around this, i use regularly "18 wheels of steel", and there, you have "Peterbulls" instead of "Peterbilts" but are the same stuff.....
