    Enlighten me

Back a hundred years ago I bought CFS2. I tried it a couple of times and found the scenery was terrible, the planes were blocky and all it was good for was shooting people down.
Well that's not my thing. I unloaded the twin thirties 64 years ago and haven't gone near a gun since.
But there has to have been some progress since CFS2 was first introduced. Has anybody got some screenshots they have taken in CFS2 that would show the advancements?
Would you like to ride in my big green tractor?.

    Helldiver,

Well, to start with, how about your namesake on the updated Henderson field?

Or, perhaps doing some "Fox" hunting in the desert with Beaus and Spits?

Good to see ya, buddy!

The CFS2 mission builder is still KING of all the WW2 combat flight simulator games.

The AI stinks, but there are workarounds. You can still have alot of fun with the missions.

There are a co-zillion add ons that will keep you busy downloading. LOL

There is new Mesh (landscape structure) by RhumbFlappy that is very good. The terrain thing is...

The CFS2 aircraft Mods are pretty awesome, but you still have to carefully make your picks. Otherwise you'll spend your days messing with downloading, installing and setting up aircraft. LOL

The BOB II WOV is significantly improved, if you like flying aircombat all the time Brits vs Jerries. The BOB II has the best AI performance of any CFS at this time.

The IL2-Forgotten Battles has a great Online community, so you can get your head handed to you over there any time you like.

There is a mod site for IL2. Somehow the code must have leaked on IL2 and the devs are having a field day with it.

I haven't been on this boards for awhile, so I'm not giving the link to the IL2 mods site. It may be forbidden here.

Looking at the Posts you'd think I've never been here. I was here before there was an IL2 and I've been back many times.

I've probably made several thousand postings, but they all seem to get quashed when the site gets hacked.

Can't let your post count affect your feelings,eh?

its not the eye candy that makes this sim so bloody great. its the wide time line you can fly in and the way it can be expanded out into different theaters of war. Its the wide variety of airplanes you can take into combat. One day you can be in a Nieuport 28 over France in 1918, and the next day you can be flying somewhere over Mig Alley in an F-86 or F-80.

You can fill your hearts desire to relieve the battles over Berlin, flying a B-17 or you can be in a FW-190 trying to down them.

Now we are working toward being able to fight over Vietnam.

NOT very many Combat Sims of any kind can take you from over the Fields of France to the battles over Korea.

We have that with this sim.

That's the advantage of this sim!

I do love the eye candy too, that is why i have FS9 and FSX

Swami, the Helldiver looked awfully good in that tropical scene. I'm confused though. How come you have the Torp outside the bomb bay? We had a Y shaped yoke that was used to throw the Torpedo out of the bomb bay and outside the propellar arc. I don't think there was enough structure in the bay door to hold a Torpedo.
The Spit and the Beaufighter looked great. So I'll give CF2 another try.

    Helldiver,

I don't know about the torpedo yoke. Wolfi designed the Helldiver.

Helldiver, ...you are a wellspring of info.

You have been there, ...and touched them.

You have seen an Essex class flightdeck and a Navy gloss-blue paintjob.

Most of us are archeologists, ...we have never seen a dinosaur w/ skin on it. (except at an AirShow).

My Dad was like that, ...a million details that ya don't get in the regurgitated, recycled history books and web-sites.

Complain away, ...it is to our advantage.

    Thanks.

Sorry Swami. I was so shocked at seeing the Torpecker sitting outside the bomb bay, that was a normal reaction. I worked with Wolfi on the configuration of the aircraft but never on ordnance. So the subject of where the torpedo was, or bombs were kept, was never an issue. We had a time fixing where the guns were during the collapse of the turtle deck. I never got him to put a shine on it either.
    Designers are a nervous lot.

Just for the record, here's how a torpedo should be mounted in a Helldiver.
Had Wolfi asked me I would have told him.
