He had a huge affect on what I thought was cool back then.
Stationed at Patrick AFB, and having a father that worked at Cape Canaveral during that time, those early astronauts and their influence on daily life was everywhere.
When John Glenn lifted off, I was there watching.

ONE OF THE GREATS , at everything !
he was borne the same year as my mom 1921.
I remember being in school when he made his first flight, the school put it over the intercom for about 1 hour.
Look What I Have Become!
Sad to hear of his passing, John Glenn was a true pioneer of space flight. He indeed led a long and productive life, God Speed.....

Few qualify as an American hero. John Glenn certainly does. As stated, "God speed John Glenn."

I was deeply saddened by this; he was one of my childhood heroes.
May you forever shine amongst the heavens you helped explore. Godspeed, John Glenn. And thank you!

A true American hero. I hope he gets a state funeral, Shepard and Armstrong sure deserved one.
Rest well, brother! May you be forever bathed in the starlight you were the first to fly among.
Your watch is over, we have it now. Semper Fi!

In 1999 I had the pleasure to meet him, when he visited the organisation I work for. Although we only spoke very briefly, it made a huge impression on me. In my opinion he physically was already an old and brittle man, but he had an extreme sharp mind, was friendly and very charismatic. It was one of the encounters I will remember the rest of my life.
Men like Yuri Gagarin, Alan Shepard, Gus Grisson, Gherman Titov and John Glenn risked their lives to enlarge our world.
He has use the time given to him very well.
