Also the tank rolled onto the battlefield for the first time at blistering 3.7 MPH 100 years ago today.

The Battle of Britain is the most important Battle of World war two from western man point of view. The other one is the Battle of Midway. The Battle of Moscow is also important but most likely Russia would have stayed in the war had they lost Moscow. Britain would have been conquered and defeated had the lost that Battle. The United States would have to Liberate Europe from its coast. Very unlikely.

Mostly likely we would have had to settle.

The Battle of Midway is secound most important Battle because had the Japanese won they would have continued to expand and conquered Hawaii and Australia.

    Miamieagle,

Even if the Luftwaffe took control of the air, they still would have had the Royal Navy to contend with for any land invasion. And don't forget, even though Norway was a victory for Germany in 1940, the Kriegsmarine took one hell of a beating by the Norwegians and the Royal Navy, losing one heavy cruiser out of two, two light cruisers out of six, ten out of twenty destroyers, and six u-boats. Two battleships and two cruisers were also damaged. They also lost 10% of their merchant fleet.

What was left? Three operational cruisers and four destroyers. Ouch!
