    Hi Chris,

    This is some impressive work!

The use of trees really caught my eye. Nice!

For others that would like to check these pics out head over to the Album Gallery at the top of the page.

    Hiya Dave, Stoney,

I appreciate the comments. Thanks. Its been a very engaging project.

Currently putting the finishing touches on Sofifi Aifield. Next, the plan is to make a couple of small ports scattered about here and there. Also gonna remove the airfield on Ternate, it is more of a modern day deal, and replace it with a nice WWII contemporary Ternate town/harbor.

Much credit is due to a treasure trove of photos, maps and written material I stumbled across at the Monash University (Melbourne, AU) Research Repository web site. It seems that post war, these guys were the beneficiaries of the SW Pacific Command's Allied Geographical Section's - Terrain Studies archive. They have done a meticulous job digitizing and making the material available online. The info for this project came from a study named "Terrain Study No.71 - Northern Molukkas, 23 October 1943".

Dave, glad you like the trees. They are part of Wolfi' CFS2_Library_Objects_part_6 collection. This is the first time I have ever used them in a project.

A few screenies of Sofifi Airfield:

    Cheers,
    Chris

Here is the photo I used as a starting point for Sofifi:

And one more, just to show how much fun one can have over Sofifi!

Man this is great work. I have tried my hand at building scenery, not much luck.If you ever get a chance, hope will give Torokina on Bougainville a facelift as it was in late 43 and into 1944. I've tried to redo Munda as well be more in line with MR's airfields.

Like the screenies Chris. The trees by wolfi should give the scene a good "depth" and a nice feel of jungle country.

Just holler if you need a beta tester.

    Definitely!

Thanks, Dave. I'm looking forward to handing it over to you.

Should be able to get something pulled together for you in a couple of days.

    Hiya dasuto247,

Hehe. Sadly, no I haven't. However, your request has been duly noted.
