    B314 China Clipper - Payware

He also did the S-40, but without a VC, try 's40nc80v.zip', also at Flightsim.com.

Is there any information on a payware B314 that was once for sale...? And does it work in FSX..?

    Thanks...

AFAIK.. the PILOTS B314 Clipper was modified for FS9 (v2) but it never made FSX.

Neither of the links for Simmarket work I'm afraid.

Thanks for the product name as I was able to at least find some reviews with screen shots.

Stone's B314 was tweaked for FSX. I believe I got all the files required from both AVSIM and Flightsim.com. When I tried my FSX B314 in P3D v2
it was a bust. NEVER got it to work. I have begged a few builders to make a B314 but they all give me the same respounse. "Not a large enough
customer base". Plus the fact they would have to build some scenery to fly from & to.

I'm the guy who begged Mike Stone to build the B314 and the guy who begged Ken Mitchell to build the fantastic panel. Then for FS9 I built the
Pacific PanAm bases for a buddy and me. I tried them in P3D and they are a complete mess. :-) Bad enough it would be easier to start over
which is not going to happen. :-)

But on the whole I agree with you....considering the B314 was MAJOR aviation building landmark it has been forgotten by the aircraft modelers.
I believe Aerosoft was disappointed in the sales of their Catalina. They have no interest in porting it to P3D.

I've always found it surprising that in all the years that FSX has been out no one has ever created a native B314.

The Pilots version was okay, back in the day, but it was originally created for FS2002. There hasn't been another payware version since. Like I said really surprising.

I'm attempting to re-work the flight model. No easy task as so many of the original numbers were written for earlier sims. Also, I don't have any of the manuals for the B314 so I'm missing all

the original specs. But I'll give it a shot. If I can get it to fly OK, I'll post it here.

And yes, she's pretty dated. Way too much shine on the aluminum, not to mention the ancient VC.

Also, just to set the record staright, the Boeing Model 314 was never referred to as the "China Clipper". She was simply klnown as the "Clipper."

The original "China Clipper" was the Martin MB-130 Flying Boat.

There is an FSX flight model update floating around out there somewhere. I "think" Mike Stone used a tweaked DC-6 or DC-4 flight model for his original B314.

After reading everything I could find online I realized the B314 flew WAY better than it should. I think I made the props smaller. I finally got it so with full fuel
and load I had to fly at 100 to 200 feet until I burned off fuel and could climb higher. Just like the real thing.

When I moved my FSX tweaked B314 into P3D v2 there were tons wrong. It sat way down by the nose.....not sure why P3D would use the contact points
    differently but it seems to.

    B314 beaching gear

Hello Thunder I also tweaked my B314 to work in FSX-SE. Every thing works great except I cannot make the beaching gear to go away. I click on the switch but nothing happens. All other switches are clickable and work. What is the secret and how did you get yours to disappear? Thanks Robert

  14. #14
Here is a very preliminary set of contact numbers. If nothing else, these should get her riding correctly in the water. Remember, the beaching gear works off the landing gear keystrokes. Watch out for some of the gauges which were built for FS98. They will not work on FSX. It's possible that one of those gauges was for the landing gear. If so, it wll not function.

    Beaching gear fixed

Hello Mal that set of contact points did the trick. Only had to tweak your fwd fuselage settings a little bit to raise the nose or my engines would stop and flame out. Anyway thanks so much for the fix. Man I love SOH some one always has the answers. Robert

  16. #16
Hopefully more to come as I just picked up 2 B314 manuals. But the balance of this model is tricky, so we'll see whether or not I can improve on the flyability.

Looking forward to more fixes, just reinstalled the Clipper in anticipation..

Has anyone else been to the Flying Boat Museum in Foynes Ireland? They say it's for "kids" but their sim pits are set up for a Boeing 314 and launch from the River Shannon estuary

I was thinking that they used Mike Stone's FS2004 model (http://www.calclassic.com/b314.htm)

Went there about 5 years ago - it's a fascinating place. I especially liked the full-sized "model" outside. It really gave an impression of just how big the B314 was. They didn't have any of the sims running when I was there but they had some unique movie footage of flying boats operating off the Shannon. Well worth a visit if you're in that part of the world.

    Last Years News

I have a 3 min video showing the B314 Clipper (Mike Stone, for 2004). I converted it to turbo prop. Has reverse. Floats have turning capability available all the time, so no need for water rudder 'key' press. Will go on land (taxi and beach - not real, but beats slewing). Takes off LEVEL (no need for trim or pull of elevator) and not nose up or tail strike. I edited out a lot of video parts when nothing was happening to keep it brief. FDE's? Payware? Link: http://youtu.be/F1NB2aQXggc . Ok, so I am showing off. It's from August 2015, and so the title: 'Last Year's News' (hehe).

Are the textures available and are there other recommended tweaks for the B-314...?

(I just received my Pilots B-314 CD)

    Thanks,
