some more close ups.
And the last batch for the night. Hope you find these somewhat useful.
They're pretty much contemporary to what I worked with....tho curiously the front on view of Engine 2 shows the wing with a de-ice black panel...and the last shot has none.... again an indication of how Fifi seems to 'change'...
Jafo,
Love the paints! Any chance you could do a hi res paint of my Uncles B-29 "Thumper"? Here's links to some images and one color profile view:

I can give it a go....I'll have to google a bit first...
Really early days....just the nose-art will take a bit of fiddling...
Edit....just about drew the thing by hand....but it's getting there...

Ah....more nose art on the right side....looks like she did a few missions too...
Edit....didn't take all that long...
...still gotta find the pilot's name.....got the navigator...I. L. Smith ...
I'm still amazed that nobody seems interested in doing a repaint of "Doc."
Gotta convince myself about details on the rear end of the plane....and do the specs...but it's getting there...
Looks absolutely fantastic, thank you and here's some help on the pilots name, I'll look into the gunners position.
Pilot = Lt Col Robert E. "Pappy" Haynes
Here's the rest of the crew:

Cool....thanks for the links.....although you can't really read the lettering at 4 pixels in 2048 I like to try to get it right....like with all the target cities on the bomb/raid icons.... and the text telling you what to do if you can't get the right fuel...
I just need to chase up what rescue details/text she had or hadn't...and what was the go with the wing walkway...if any. One of those shots shows the engine cowls pretty oily too...so maybe I need to get a little down and dirty...
I've had this repaint of Wichita's 'DOC' for Virtavia's B-29A since July 2016. Not sure who "Alan W" is, full name not in the Zip. Also not sure from which website I downloaded.
Yes, I was sure 'Doc' was already around somewhere....
Other than looking again at 2 of the more significant 29s....Enola and Fifi.....I personally would rather do ones not already done by others...
I found the original post, it was on Flightsim.com, in the screenshot forum. Posted by deepdiver8055 , who's name is Alan Wengren. However, he has not posted since 12/19/2016, and all the links in his blog about the paint are dead. His FLicker page is still live showing screenshots of his paints. He was prolific.
Found him over at the A2A forums. Known as "EightyFiftyFive" there. Lots of posts and paints.

Boeing B-29A-55-BN Superfortress Jack's Hack, S-N 44-61975, on display at the New England Air Museum. A very good restoration and an interesting nose art example. Would make a nice repaint subject.
I've just uploaded these two to SOH...
"Thumper"...
....and for a wee bit of fun....a 'what if' that'd be mildly unlikely...
Perhaps I should have a look at 'Jack's Hack'.....
Ever look at doing a US Navy P2B repaint for the B-29, JAFO?
Early days....but the hard bit's done [mostly]....
Edit....
Nose Art is essentially complete....just the rest of it to do...

One of the most interesting pieces of nose art ever...... I have always been fascinated by it, and can't imagine the man hours it took to paint. I am certainly grateful to you for tackling such an endeavor!!!
It's a fun one....still have to determine what's happening with the ground shadow vs reflections...and whether to do the Crew names on the nose gear doors.
They'll take a bit of doing ....for limited benefit. [visibility/clarity]
Jafo, I see some of those B-29s with no turrets. That brings up interesting possibilities, like VIP birds or possibly weather recon or air sampling aircraft.
A few Fifi shots from Oshkosh last year. Note that the front of the cowling is unpainted, as well as some panels around the engine nacelle. And that battered look! Also, each engine has it's "personal" name: the port engines are named "Mitzi" and outboard "Ingrid". The starboard engines are "Rita" and outboard "Betty".

They're cool....I'd seen the engine names....but not all of them....betty...ingrid....mitzi....and ?
i could add them and polish the cowl easy enough....if i knew the 4th....
edit....oops....saw the 4 names....shall do something....
Edit 2...
Doing the Engine names....and meanwhile this is done....except not the crew names yet...
