those who are more experienced with on-line gaming probably already knew some of these, but I wanted to share some things I learned (or observed) about MSFS as a result of the XBOX servers being down for a bit the other day.

1) if the sim can't log into XBOX (or I supposed more accurately, if one cannot log into XBOX in general) the sim tell you you're offline and ask if you want to continue. If you do, it will load with default settings -- how they were when it was first installed.

2) It follows, then , that user settings must be stored online, because when XBOX was back up all my settings came back (what a relief!)

3) MSFS thought the problem was that I wasn't on the net. All the XBOX app told me was that I couldn't log on and a cryptic error code. It didn't tell me that the problem was at their end. I found out that it was offline by going to the official forums.

4) MSFS problems are not always at my end, or user error
