Some of you will be like me and prefer a more modern panel rather than the classic vintage.
There's an FS9 modern VC panel which works with a few minor gauge changes.
FS2004 Beechcraft D18S Modern PanelFS2004 Beechcraft D18S Modern Panel. A modern-style VC panel for D18S. This is an optional modern-style VC panel for the Beech D18S by Milton Shupe (D18SVC4.ZIP), based on panel configurations, used with later versions of the Twin Beech. It is a VC option only (no main panel) with some additional panels, allowing to start and fly the plane in a outside view mode. By Vladimir Gonchar.
You will need to remove and replace these 5 gauges .....

This is the VC panel with the old gauges removed and I'm in the process of finding suitable ones to fill the holes.
Pete.
Thanks Pete! I'm going to redo my personal ride first to get a feel for how everything is mapped out and any potential problem areas. If Bjoern does decide to do the cargo version, that'll be ready. But first, I'm applying my own bare metal recipie layers as everything I do has at least some bare metal on it. Someone has to keep the metal polish companies in business. After I get the "Nitro Express" done, I'll be looking for more "victims". Probably some feeder lines and a few private ones. And if no one beats me to it, I'd like to do the one I saw at that airshow. Black/Red in a GeeBee-ish type scheme (Gee Bees I can do)
Like the panel mods and I'll probably do something similar on my own like I did for the FS9 version.

For 1 out of 24, may I suggest this livery ?

When I taxi in the D18, It sometimes looks as though the tail wheel is locked at times then I manage to see it caster left or right when I turn the plane.
Kinda like the castor wheels in a well used Wal-Mart shopping cart.
Is the tail wheel always unlocked? Is there a way to go from locked to unlocked?

I can't make any promises, but I will save the reference material. It appears to be a fairly easy one to paint once I get the new Twin Beech paint booth set up. Getting the process like I want it will probably take a few (or more) days as I can only do FS stuff in my spare time and we're starting our busy time of the year.
Milton?? Working on the Dark Side??? Not sure what to make of it, but I'd bet money it turns out great.

Hi all
Taking the time to enjoy Bjoern's revised D-18. The only problem I have encountered is that the start sequence in Prepar3D v3.4 continues not to function properly. I have tried several different methods but so far cannot complete a manual start. Control + E works but this to me defeats the ultra reality feeling of the machine. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and perhaps found a fix or work around.
Thanks
Warren (aspen31)
It's a shame this RAF skin no longer seems to be available. Looks like it could have been an easy conversion for gaab also.

The package payload is going to be more labor intensive than I thought because I have to model and texture boxes that actually fit through the narrow door.
A true cargo model (like the C-45 Expediter) is not an option since it involves extensive interior and fuselage (cargo door!) modifications.
Regarding P3Dv3.x support: You guys are out on your own. Don't have it, don't want it.
Surely does. They are, after all, intended to bring some detail to models without expending thousands of additional polys.
Looks great!BTW, just successfully exported my first FSX native aircraft test, of course without all the necessary changes, but it worked. So, I am now in full learning mode.
I've played with the thought of converting your civvie Lockheeds, but I have way too little time to keep up my interest enough to see it through. Especially since I only need a test bed for my RealEngine rework in the first place.
Neat! I'll include your fixes in the next release, if I may.

Of course you can, it is a honor to me,
And many thanks for your great work, Bjoern.
I tried to give the glass textures more reflections,
But unfortunately without success.
The glass is hardly visible in fsx.
By the way, I converted the Beech AT-11 Civil,
with good results, only the cockpit, still needs a lot of attention.
if you're interested . . .
Looking forward to flying the updated Beech Twin, Milton's twins have always been winners for my flying prefs. As for seeing Milton export to fsx, that's got "good idea" all over it
That would be a real treat, those civvie lockheeds are wonderful flyers already.
And as Willy knows, they paint well :- )

Interesting problem. After the last update my vc glass is clear for a couple seconds then becomes cloudy. Can't see though it at all. The 2D cockpit has perfectly clear glass. Any idea?
Found my problem was in the D18S_reflection.dds. Solved my own clouded glass. What a great aircraft.
Here is a quick repaint done with the newly supplied paint kit.

And if you want a true cargo 18, then I would suggest something like an E18S.
Yep, would require a new fuselage, wings, etc., but you could reuse most of the tail and the landing gear, so that's a start. Right?
Yes, that would be nice, but I know that would also be an entirely new build. The flight sim world can dream of an E18, can't we?
And by the way, Bjoern, thank you for your continued contributions to the flight sim world, they are most appreciated.

Does anybody have some information or pictures of the windscreen wipers?
If I already have rain on the windscreen, I might as well add something to do away with it. As far as I've seen, wipers were an optional item though.
I changed the transparency method for the glass from a fixed alpha value to an alpha channel, but didn't touch the exterior model.
Will therefor have to update the exterior as well. I just hope that there aren't any custom animations or visibilities...
It doesn't really fit into the package; sorry.By the way, I converted the Beech AT-11 Civil,
with good results, only the cockpit, still needs a lot of attention.
if you're interested . . .
No time, but since Milton seems to be interested in the whole FSX-native-model deal, here's hoping for a conversion straight from the modeler's hands.
See my reply to postbaer. I changed the glass properties to default transparent (alpha channel!) from a fixed alpha value, but didn't do the same for the exterior model.
Will require an update.
You're welcome, but I won't touch an E18 with a ten foot pole for the sheer number of differences.
