    CFS2 CTD in QC

    One for the experts...

In QC, when selecting Japan escort or US intercept, CFS2 crashes; no problems selecting Japan intercept or US escort. It's as if the sim does not recognize any Japan bomber aircraft. All I have done is:

    1. Manually updated the "qc_plane.qcb" to include all aircraft (well below the 85-100 aircraft folders)...
    2. Added country UIRES (Britain, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) and manually updated the country.cfg accordingly...

    Any ideas appreciated!

What error message u had? error sim1sim?
    Are u using converted planes?
Perhaps some of these planes involved have lacking files in their folders, like sound etc, etc.

Hmmmm....I'd put money on an error here. It's sooo easy to mess this up when done manually. By manually, i presume you meant hand edits and not with third party QC editing software? I have a suspicion of what might be missing in your details.

Mario and Bearcat, thanks for the feedback...

All aircraft folders/files are in place and in order; yes, the .qcb was hand edited; I went over the file multiple times to ensure proper option number sequence ([option.0] OptionName=%FightersOption%...etc.), family type (family_type.0...etc...= 1...* for fighter; family_type.0...etc...=2 *for bomber) and individual aircraft options. Is there another QC or mission file I may be overlooking?

Before fixing anything, you should begin by confirming that the problem actually lies with the QCB file and not somewhere else. Back up what you've customized and reinstall the original QCB virgin. Remove all add-ons from the AIRCRAFT folder into a separate, temp folder for later purpose, leaving only stock. Try to fly the QC options - Japan escort or US intercept - that gave you trouble.

If all goes well, you'll know that the problem lies with either the layout of the custom QCB and/or the misc data info in the dp's of one or more of the add-ons. Open the temp folder and carefully examine the dp misc data sections of all the add-ons to make sure the allegiances are perfectly correct and correspond with their proper nationalities in the country.cfg. Also, make sure all bombers and fighters have proper coding designations in the misc data sections.

Forego hand editing. Download this and install it anywhere: http://simviation.com/1/download?fil...e&fileId=31355. Run it and direct it to the CFS2 directory of choice, in case you have multiple installs. After this selection, you'll see a list of all stock planes in the A/C folder of the install you selected. Use the category dropdown menu to examine the coding of each model -- this is your guide for setting up the add-ons. Close the proggie and add 10 or so add-ons back to the A/C folder. Use the proggie to add them to the QC file and apply the proper type categories to each one. Fly QC and test. If good to go, add more add-ons to the QCB.

Thanks Bearcat241, I have JoneSoft QC Editor installed...I suppose it would have been better to state that I started to get the CTDs after using this proggy (both US and Japan escorts and intercepts). This is why I did a manual edit of the .qcb, starting with a virgin copy. Now the US escorts and Japan intercepts work, but the US intercepts and Japan escorts CTD...perplexing. I will try your suggestions and keep you updated. Thanks!

I use the proggy quite frequently, especially after putting a batch of add-on models into play -- never a glitch. Just ran some test of my own in an attempt at replicating your problems. Everything green here, except my modified Betty wasn't showing up in Jap escort mode due to the model type classified as 5=tactical bomber in the dp. I reset it to 2=level bomber, which apparently is the sim's primary bomber class type to go to when loading escort QC sessions.

You've got some wires crossed somewhere between the country.cfg, the qcb and maybe some individual dp's. This can happen when one takes a big bite at once, as you've described in your first post. Things can easily get overlooked, omitted or just mixed up. You might have to repeat the entire add-on modification sequence again from the original starting point to track down your mistakes.

I know you're an old hand at this stuff, but take smaller bites when modifying vitals so you can find and fix problems quicker.
