Manchukuo (China) Scenery Project

Hi Good People,

Been a bit quiet lately for the Ford Tri-Motor Project - some major surgery for me last year - several runs actually - but finally fully back on my feet. As part of my convalescence over the last couple of months Edward and I decided to do a scenery pack that would merge into our Ford India Project - a batch of 4 Airfields in Manchukuo and a couple of bridging airfields, one in Saigon and a French Fort airfield called Fort Bayard in lower French Indochina. I really got stuck into some model building and had some great fun creating almost 100 new models and tweaking some of the others we have.

Anyway - I would like to present to you The FREE Manchukuo Scenery Project - something new and exciting for your FS2004 entertainment.

Glad to see you well Garry! As a cancer survivor myself (so far) I know how good it feels to get back into things we love.

Thanks Stoney, fortunately my surgery run was not cancer related. Full abdominal reconstruction to fix multiple dodgy surgeries to a major injury that occurred many years ago that was giving me a lot of grief in my later life. I was lucky that one of the best surgeons available took an interest in my problems and was on a mission to resolve the problems and repair the old damage. Removed lots of scar tissue and fixed all the problems inside (in two runs) - and better still -though cut from top to bottom and several major cuts left to right he and his team sowed all of the surgery wounds internally (magic stuff through multiple keyhole work) - now I have a normally looking external belly - no longer have to wear a T-Shirt to hide the old scars when going to the beach etc. Enough of the boring stuff - suffice to say that the end result was worth the venture.

Fascinating scenery. I've always been intriqued by your continued attachment to Manchuku. These Airfields are far more eleborate and organised then they ever would have been. I would gladly settle for more remote fields with some rusty Ford AAs or '28 Internationals for maintenance, even rickshaws or elephants. Those knockoff Toyotas get decent mileage, though. Some period AI French fighters might be helpful with the locals but otherwise Good work

You never know, we might tinker again with this project but plenty of other things also in the Ford Tri-Motor Project work pot.

Hi Garry,
I hope your health is all on the mend now. It's great to have you back.
I'm busy reinstalling a version of FS9 that only has Ford Project aircraft & scenery in it. Your work deserves it! (maybe I'll squeeze some of Milton's stuff in as well)
I was also thinking of ideas to improve the default water as well. I'm not yet decided if I should install either Golden Wings or Silver Wings textures as well & I'm yet to look at mesh for South Africa. I did have a problem in one of my other installs when I installed your Cape Town scenery. I was using our local mesh (from Aeroworx), & the land layout was very jagged, coastline & mountains did not fit. So I'll be installing your scenery into my 'virgin' sim, as it were.

Your comments re water will be much appreciated. Also, I liked MattJeo11's idea of vehicles as well. (cars 'n boats?)

I simply love your tri-motor statue. Really stunning.

Anyway, great to have you back, & bestest to Ed as well.

Interesting project for you to have your FS2004 virtually dedicated to Ford Tri-Motor Project stuff.

There is certainly enough aircraft and scenery created by the Tri-Motor Team, across a very broad spectrum, to fill a simulator and provide lots of entertainment.

My FS2004 has been basically dedicated to only Project scenery and aircraft for at least the last 4 years.

I have everything I need, except for the full aircraft cfg for the tri-motor plus the bonus textures.

Just spent some time checking on pages and downloads from the www.Ford-Tri-Mortor.net web site - discovered no problems in time outs or other issues.

Suspect it might just be your system or service provider for the timeouts.

May I recommend that if your having problems on our site and your not sure of the reasons it might be more appropriate you send a PM to Ed or I instead of implying in a public forum that something may be wrong with the site.

One of the most useful things about this site is the sharing of any information that may be useful to all of us, including the possibility of problems with other Flight Simulator websites.

With that in mind, I really have to say that I found Mr Smith's request to send PMs just a little high-handed. I do not recall any such comment from BritSim, Avsim or others when their site problems have been mentioned on here.

This is the Internet, things like this do happen and there is no shame in it.

No intentions to be "high handed" - undoubtedly true that forums are an essential source for information in regards to web site availabilities etc - however, Robin expressed that he was not sure if it was the site or his system/services giving him a problem.

Agree totally on the vagaries of the internet - sites do sometimes go down or give errors based on genuine failures but quite a few failures are caused on the whim of the internet or a personal or system error. All black magic sometimes.

If we all posted "site maybe faulty/down comments" on the random vagaries of the internet or our systems without first checking alternatives or with the site administrators then the forums could be full of false alarms with the occasional genuine site down threads.

I just thought, because he was not sure where the problem lay that it would have been reasonable to send a PM which is just as fast as a Forum Thread and we would have investigated (as I did) the issue promptly - if there indeed was a problem with the web site then we, and no doubt others, would have Posted a warning here and everywhere else about the problem if it could not be resolved promptly.

Anyway, no offence or abuse intended - just a matter of different perspectives on the protocols/etiquette of how "sites error statements in a thread" might be handled.
