I agree. This is one of the few commercial planes that looks like it is somehow flying while stand still.
Spent many hours on them in the 60's.
I've always liked the 727. When 4 engines are too many and 2 aren't enough, 3 will do!
It does seem a shame so much time, effort and money had to go into moving the aircraft just a few short miles. It probably would have been less expensive to remove the wings and transport it via flatbed trucks.

I think a final flight is a more fitting send-off. I know it would cost a pile of cash, but it would be nice if she could be started and taxied around every month or so just to keep her from going to pot.

Actually Bill, considering the state of I-5 and some of the other roads, flight might be the safest option. Add in the King County traffic and the flatbed option may have taken as long as the 'restoration to flight status'.
Also, one has to factor in the emotional appeal of "one last flight".
