    @ SOLOBO, at page 53 of the POH, there is also a description of the gunsight and its different modes

    This POH is really helpful and covers general operation of the F8F with variants differences as well as engine parameters and performances.

    SOLOBO,

    Do you mean like the one in the 2D cockpit?

    How are you doing this in the VC?

    Hi Milton, not exactly if we see the original photos of real Bearcat's cockpit...

    And my main purpose is to have a properly aligned landmark on the horizon...
    this can be useful if you fly over the mountains.

    In the VC I added a bitmap in the [Vcockpit01]... On this aircraft, (and others, but not all) it works... I was pleasantly surprised.

    But this 2D panel is very beautiful...

    [Vcockpit01]
    file=minipanel-3D.BMP
    Background_color=0,0,0
    size_mm=670,670
    visible=0
    pixel_size=1340,1340
    texture=$planche

    Milton, I'm liking the use of the gunsight for the HU display. That's right up my alley. Can that be done in the VC?

    Yes, of course. Can I do it? Not sure but will give it a look-see if SOLOBO will share his work as well.

    Not sure if we can get approval from oldliner52 on all this so it may be a moot point.

    No problem Milton... I can share it... I'm looking for the best look...
    You can use it.

    I have been playing a bit with the demo version of EZ Scenery, trying to recreate the "South East Asia" mission time for the RTAF Bearcats with humid, low visibility typical weather of the area.

    Very neat! Planes and scenery - great effort! You made me roll out the Bear again in preparation for these repaints!

    Hi all,

    As some of you may already know, I have been moving for flying duty to a rough, remote area, far away of civilisation. I have a limited internet access on 3.5G. I will try however to upload at least one livery so you can start enjoy it before I land a place with better connection.

    Pick up the livery you like more and let me know, I'll try to upload (but I can hardly promise anything, the connection is really poor)
    The other liveries will follow with a delay from 2 to 6 months.

    Which one first?

    l'iguane,

    The French '2300' skin is the one for me.

    Great work on all of them, many thanks for your efforts.

    LOL Lots of great choices.

    While L'iguane is out of "pocket", he asked that I release the Thai 2300 livery (the only one I have) from his WIP schemes and I am trying to do that.

    My issue at the moment is I only have his modified shine model of the droppable tank version (and test version of the VC based HUD).

    The only remedy I can think of is to release the texture only for the model you have as I have not yet been able to contact oldliner52 to request permissions to release a modified version of the package with droppable tank and HUD.

    Your thoughts?

    Are you willing to test this with your current setup?

    EDIT: Adding the texture here. Please test and post some screenshots so we can see how it looks

    Thank you; the best I can see from your pics, everything looks good.

    I now have the original model with just the shine modified. Will you please test this package and post results.

    If this looks good, I will officially upload the package.

    This adds the model folder and changes the cfg entry.

    Thank you Sir. Okay, with that, I will do an official upload including the modified shine model. People can point the textures to either their current or new model depending on their system setup. Thank you Navtech.

    Hi,
    I do get a strange VC with model.f8f-2m,kind of too big of size?
    Peter

    Navtech, never mind the previous message.

    Okay folks, I'll try to clarify that last test file I uploaded.

    That model is the original ABC model mod'd for shine by L'iguane. It will not work with the new updated model I released, panel textures or folders.
    If you have the original model, you could extract the basic fuselage and wing textures to use but none more.

    I cannot pull down that post above because the editing time frame has passed.

    The best thing to do here is ignore that test archive above and delete it from your F8F folder if you installed it.

    I can release the Thai2300 texture set but is is only for the M. Shupe modified version and NOT compatible with the original ABS release.

    I apologize for that confusion for any of you who tested that.

    Pete, you were posting as I was posting. :-)

    The textures you have will work IF you have the my updated version.

    Just change the model and panel to use the correct versions.

    Like so:

    [fltsim.nn]
    title=F8F2 Bearcat Thai2300
    sim=F8F-2
    ui_manufacturer=Grumman
    ui_type="Bearcat longrange"
    ui_variation="Thai2300"
    model=f8f-2
    panel=light

    sound=
    texture=Thai2300
    KB_checklists=
    description=Thai2300 by L'iguane
    atc_id=201
    atc_id_color=0x00000000
    atc_heavy=0
    atc_id_font=Verdana,-11,1,600,0
    visual_damage=0
    prop_anim_ratio=-1.90
