I've been taking a little break from other travails and cranked up the C-46 by Libardo Guzman and Tom Gibson for a little hop. This is an excellent aircraft and I highly recommend it if you don't already have it in your sim. I have only one gripe, and I know it's something I'm doing, but I can't pinpoint what.
I start the aircraft with the ground power cart hooked up, and engine startup goes without a hitch. My problem is I find it physically impossible to taxi this aircraft without the engines overheating with anything more than half a load of cargo or pax. What happens is the engines just pack up and stop during taxi despite my not getting any warnings re: CHT. I've even had this happen after takeoff and I can assure you I'm not abusing the engines. I tried to get around this by foregoing taxiing and just slewing the aircraft to the EOR, starting the engines there and immediately taking off, yet I still get the engines stopping, first one then the other. I am running about 38" MAP, 2400 RPM on takeoff, full rich mixture, within one min of breaking ground I will reduce RPM to about 2100, MAP to 34" and start a gentle climb, no more than 300 FPM to my first "staging" altitude, where I level out and gather a little speed before going up the step to the next desired altitude. Cowl flaps are open during this evolution. Again, I still get the engines to quit despite fuel pumps being on, tank selectors set properly, with the above engine settings. No engine overheat. Obviously this model has a failure mode in it, but I'd like to disable it. How does that happen?
