    Hehe, we're back!

We left KSWO for 7TX2 just south of Dallas, and it was an uneventful flight until Willy had some control problems on approach, but alas, he got the bugger under control and made a safe landing. Moses and I delivered two B-17s to an local group here in Texas, and for a real good thing these two warbirds will placed in a hanger at 7TX2 for display for the public to enjoy and remember the men who flew them in WWII. Moses and I will be back flying the L18, and still heading south to what adventures that lies ahead!

    Hello again,

Wind, wind, more wind, The wind blew at Flight 19 from every direction on the compass! But shucks, we all made it into Brownsville, TX. Now, we are preparing different aircraft for our excursion into Mexico. The first stop will be at Tampico (MMTM). Now, a problem, getting thru Mexician Custom, it could be a pain in the part we sit on! Especially with the story going around about Flight 19, by the way, which most, if not all are just wild stories. (hehe) Well, if you don't hear from us then you will know that we may have a problem!

    Hi there!

Hehe, we went a little crazy with the picture taking on this trip. A real nice flight even with me and Dudley coming down over the Mountains from Mexico City did a little overspeed, and most of you know what happened then! lol. We did make it into Cuemaraca, can't say it, but I think I spelled it right. At Cuemaraca, when turning into the ramp area they were all kinds of folks waving their arms, sure didn't know what the wanted. It was like a bunch taxi drivers in Mexico airports trying to get a fare. But in this case, I believe it was a very bunch of unhappy Custom Agents expecting to make a little profite this day. Did noticed that Willy's plane had it's tail in the Hanger, sure hope nothing is broken!

Somewhere in Mexico, south of Mexico City.

There I was minding my own business, cruising along at 9500ft and the darn trees started getting bigger and closer. Fortunately none were the ill famed "Mexican Jumping Redwoods". I did get close enough to the top of one hill there that had a farm on it, I could have stole a watermelon. Any lower and I've have plowed the farmer's fields with the props.

We made it down to Guatamala City. There's no telling what one might run into around Central America...

Out of Howard AFB of the former Canal Zone, we flew over the relatively underdeveloped and rugged parts of southern Panama to the Colombian port town of Turbo. This region of Panama, the Darien Gap, consists of swampland, forests, and highlands. This is the missing link of the Pan-American Highway which otherwise would connect the two Americas. We landed at Turbo's nearby peninsula airport which was the site of a Panagra emergency field during the 1940s.

The Kodak below shows clouds mixing with the terrain of the Serrania del Darien, the isolated mountains that separate southern Panama from Colombia.

A few pics from last night's flight over Ecuador.

We did have a bit of a problem on take off from Quito. Seems for some reason both Lodestars didn't want to leave the runway and were slow to start climbing. I was beginning to think that I was gonna hit a jet that was turning on to the other end of the runway.

Nice flight to Cuzco in the dusk. Well at least until I totally lost the bubble on short final at Cuzco and landed in the middle of the highway. I'm thinking that as I didn't use the runway, they shouldn't charge me landing fees.

Made it on into NW Argentina tonight.

I've done a bit more swapping around. I was in a DC-2, but the engines in it kept blowing so I went to this somewhat sporty little thing. We made it to Santiago Chile.

Nice flight although the engine on the Gee Bee was sounding a bit dodgy though. Like it was wanting to cut out. If it does decide to pack it in, there is another...

Still heading south although we're getting close to the southern tip. Not much more and we'll have to head back up north.

Made a "slight" change in the Gee Bees. Went to the Alabeo one and did up the same black/red paint for it. Still got some tweaking to do to the paint though.
