An update to the weather rules. This change is to accommodate P3D users, and matches the rules we used in the RTW Race this year (thanks Mike!)

You must fly using Real-World Weather. You may use the default Jeppesen weather engine, or you may use an appropriate version of one of the following addon weather engines: Active Sky, FS Pilots Global Real Weather, Opus and the freeware FSrealWX. You must enable the following settings in MSFS or the equivalent in other weather engines (See Options - Settings - Weather):

15-minute updates must be enabled, if possible.
"Download winds aloft..." box must be checked.
"Disable turbulence effect on aircraft" box must be unchecked.

You may post your weather engine choice in your personal race thread when the event begins, or when you register, but you must declare your weather engine of choice before the race and stick with that choice throughout the race.

There is a new button on the main menu here at the SOH site. Labeled "SWPAC 2", it takes you to the score board for this event. It has test data in it now, and will up until the race starts, as I make sure things are working correctly in there.

We just completed the Race Committee meeting with Miss Nellie at Rabaul. There will be an additional trophy awarded at the end of the event. This trophy will be for: Best Screen Shot! It should also be noted that while kodaks are worth approximately 984 words, give or take, the "story behind the image" will be a "factor" in the decision for the award. The Race Committee members will collect all images, stories, lies, bribes, etc., with our recommendations, to Miss Nellie, who will make the final decision.

Stuart Green's FS9 Mitsubishi G4M1 ("Betty") is eligible for this event, but must use the modified FM (provided in the attachment). This places the aircraft in the "Class 1" category.

Shipmates and fellow racers. Miss Nellie just called me into her office. She wanted to know if I had made it clear that the race statistics and current standings were available from the "SWPAC2" button at the top of the site. My answer was something along the lines of "... *<gulp>*, um, I think so..." which, as you can imagine, elicited a raised eye brow and a sudden halt to the pencil tapping... So, if you haven't seen it yet, see the attached pic and click the button. Not only can you see the current stats, but you can upload your own duenna files. Many of you have been doing this already (thank you!) If you haven't, no worries, as I have been keeping up with it. More or less...

Thanks for supplying us with this Paul ... Easy to use with immediate response ... Handy!

Also the new icons are nice, but I'm having trouble uploading my text files now.

Getting this ..... "Error adding Leg Record."

Browses to the file fine, but when I hit the upload button no joy, just that message on a blank gray screen.

Oops... That's what I get for trying to "fix" something that "ain't broke"... It should be ok now (after refreshing your browser with CTRL-F5). Thanks for the heads up...

The event final results are computed, and can be seen on the race page. We are awaiting the tabulation of votes on the screen shot contest from the race committee members, upon the completion of which the final results, and some observations, will be posted here. Stand by...

Here are the winners of the four race classes:

    Class 1 (0-250 Kts): Spookster67
Aircraft: Mitsubishi G4M1 (Stewart Green), FSX
    Flight Time: 12:19:14
    Average Ground Speed 227.66 Kts

    Class 2 (250-300 Kts): robert41
Aircraft: Mitsubishi A6M5 (A2A/Wings of Power), FSX
    Flight Time: 10:33:47
    Average Ground Speed: 257.05 Kts

    Class 3 (300-350 Kts): Karlsim
    Aircraft: Curtiss P-40E (Iris), FSX
    Flight Time: 10:13:25
    Average Ground Speed: 283.02 Kts

    Class 4 (350+ Kts): salt_air
Aircraft: Grumman F7F-3 (Milton Shupe), FS9
    Flight Time: 07:51:17
    Average Ground Speed: 338.77 Kts

Some observations we found interesting: Two of the four classes were won by pilots flying Japanese navy aircraft. The slowest overall time posted was
PRB in the B-17F run. I would have posted last place even in the slowest class. Dang! The fastest average ground speed did not always correlate to the
lowest flight time. This was usually, but not always, a result of extra legs flown due to crashes. Need to look closely at the other cases, to
    understand what happened.

    Aircraft entries by manufacturer:

    Grumman: 3 (F6F, F7F, TBM)
    Mitsubishi: 3 (A5M, A6M, G4M)
    Boeing: 2 (B-17, B-29)
    Douglas: 2 (C-47, SBD)
    Lockheed: 2 (P-38, PV-2)
    North American: 2 (B-25, P-51)
    Bristol: 1 (Beaufighter)
    Curtiss: 1 (P-40)
    DeHavilland : 1 (Mosquito)
    Martin: 1 (B-26)
    Republic: 1 (P-47)
    Supermarine: 1 (Seafire)

Screen shot contest winners: After extensive deliberations, lasting into the wee hours of the morning, between the race committee members and Miss
Nellie, we have chosen three winners. It was truly difficult to choose only three, as so many were great!

Third Place: spokes2112, MAAM B-25J, Breakfast at Jacquinot Bay!

Second Place: MM, Milviz P-38L, Lightning Strikes!

First Place: Dark Charizma, A2A P-51D, Mustang riding into the Sunset!

Thanks to all who participated. It was a fun event!

Congrats to the screen shot winners.

Congratulations across the board to all of the participants .... pushing through obstacles and hanging on to the end or as close as you could get deserves a tip of the hat.

    Loads of fun.

Grateful to have events like these set up and run ... Very appreciative of all of the work that goes on in the "background".

Hope to see Miss Nellie again soon.

    Happy Trails,
