That's a newie on me Andrew. Sorry for sounding like a complete tyro, but is the Mission Builder you are using pointing to the ETO install. No possibility that it is linked to another install? ( just a wild speculation).

Michael,
It essentially boils down to the fact that I can't figure how to turn off write-protection.

Ravenna,
Update: I think I've got it. I had to go into the command prompt (making sure to select "run as administrator") and type in this: net user administrator /active:yes
This enables the "secret" administrator mode in Windows 10.

Ravenna,
Continuing to have issues as the folders are STILL listed as "read-only," so with administrator privileges, I have right-clicked on each folder, clicked on the security tab, and then "edit," and clicked on "full control." as the Creator Owner, and finally clicked "apply."
We'll see how this goes...

Ravenna,
That didn't work either. I'm ending up having to run CFS2 under a separate login as a local administrator. At this point, it seems to work normally. But what a colossal pain in the arse.

Rami,
Are you having this problem with other Mission Builders/ installs?

Ravenna,
Finally, success. The last step was to make sure to copy all of the start menu shortcuts from one account to another. I used this method, and it worked perfectly: https://yourbusiness.azcentral.com/c...her-22289.html
I'm officially back in business on my laptop.

Just a thought, maybe if the programs are installed in C: drive and not in Program Files, things, and editing will work better.

Good morning,
I have upgraded my desktop to Windows 10 without any issues; the learning curve from the laptop experience made it much easier, because I knew precisely what to do.

I tried Rami's solution of building my connection to cfs2 from an administrator log in, transferred the shortcuts from my old desktop to the new one. And lo... MB is now working!

Greg,
That's fantastic. I'm glad this solution worked...

I just bought a powerful new Win10 desktop -HP with an I-9 processor a 16 Gig Nvidia video card, and 32 Gb RAM! My next project is to see if I can set up a "Virtual Machine" on it and see if I can't run Win7 on it., using the VM function That would bypass a lot of the Win 10 problems. I'll keep you posted on how that goes as soon as I can get my daughter off it.
"De Oppresso Liber"
Wow, Rams! I'm going to have to save this thread and walk through it to get Win10 able to run MB in my CFS2 installs. The whole reason I purchased a GT1030, which is a sucky card, do NOT buy one!, was to have my Win 7X64 machine for MB. DD73.

I got MB to work in Windows 10X64.
I can change aircraft and nationalities.
I can start new missions with waypoints.
I can put in triggers.
I can put in events.
I can save the above.
I CANNOT put in any scenery objects, aircraft as objects, ships as objects, anything as objects.
Grrrr.
Transferring to my Windows 7 machine to work on MB projects.......

DD,
Where do you have your install of CFS2?
My WIN10/64 did what yours has done. I moved the sim to my D drive ( no more annoying calls for administrator approval) and pointed the MB at the new location. It allows me to place objects etc but it crashes when I try to set up weather, time, objectives etc. My work around is to do those manually after saving the mission.
Ravenna,
I have multi-installs.
On my Win10X64 machine they are C:\users\(my_name)\Battle for Europe\CFS2, & Battle of Britain\CFS2, & Battle of France\CFS2, etc.
The same is true for my Windows 7X64 machine.
I have pristine installs of CFS2 on both machines in the default locations and ONLY use those to copy source files FROM.
I am not able to save anything in Battle for Europe installs. It immediately CTD as soon as I click on any infrastructure button at the top of MB screen.
I am able to work MB in Normandy in my BPF Meridian MB install. So I have installed a minimum of scenery and ETO objects to that install and have about 1/3 of the Atlantic Wall Bunkers in layouts at Normandy.
Though, I have work to do on the terrain differences. For whatever reason(s) the coast line at Normandy has water up on land along the coast.
My Battle for Europe install does not.

I'm thinking C:\users\ is likely going to be a problem too. Windows likes to lock things down there as well. As for your BoE CTD I'm going to guess a bad object or you removed a stock object(s) but some code for it is still around.
"Let Being Helpful Be More Important Than Being Right!" Some SOH Founder.
I've removed lots of stock objects.
That said, I have it running in Meridian and it saves. Though, when I fly in MB to check things out, when I exit out of the flight, it still CTDs.
I have all of the mesh, landclass, and scenery files working.
The Atlantic Walls bunkers are working.
I have Layouts: Omaha 1 through 3 and Pointe du Hoc.
Now I am reworking the bunkers to fit them into the hills above Omaha Beach.
Anybody know of tank traps, walls, and barbed wire fences for CFS2?

Hello all!
I have been playing CFS2 on old XP computer with no graphics or memory, just so I could still enjoy it.
However, I also have 5-6 year old Win7 Home Edition which supported the game at one time...before the hard drive crashed. That operating system was Win7 Pro, or whatever the upgrade was called. I have the original CFS2 2 CD box set. I have also purchased 2 more complete CD sets since then in my passion to play this game as it should be played. My old tricks with the exe file, different install location, etc do not work....
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Happy Jack
