OK, Manfred, the ventral blister is the light bar left over from her "KC" days. Some were removed, some left on. I found a website that explained the entire conversion to the HC,
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/60154049/H...ctsheet#scribd

On that, I found some of the squadrons/bases number/tail numbers:

    55th/58th ARS Wheelus (3) 52-2618, 52-2783, 53-0134
    76th ARS Hickam (5) 52-2661, 52-2665, 52-2806, 53-0126, 53-0161
    303rd ARS March (9) 52-0916, 52-2617, 52-2714, 52-2739, 52-2791, 52-2797, 53-0115, 53-0122, 53-0131,
    305th ARS Selfridge (8) 52-2716, 52-2754, 52-2784, 53-0117, 53-0165, 53-0170, 53-0173, 53-0174

    This was from AMARC.

They were also at Pease, Kindley AFB, Bermuda (55th ARS), Ashiha AB Japan, Clark AB PI (31st ARS), Eielson AB, AK, (71st ARS)

    A few more pics:

    Thanks.....

Thank you everyone for the excellent repaints that are being made and released for this aircraft...in particular, Jan Kees, that MN Air Guard example is going to be my go-to for sure. ; ) Thank you very, very much!

Here is KC-97F 51-0363 as requested by Mike Barnette after his dive to the wreck. Livery a bit speculative but most photos show active units in the late '50's-early 60's with Arctic Red on nose, wing tips and a rear fuselage band. Clearly the wing tanks shouldn't be there but gives Mike an idea as to how she looked before she went into the water. Not got time to upload before I go away, will finish and post when I get back.

[QUOTE=gray eagle;959526]A former KC-97, 52-2718 is one of two of the only remaining airworthy C-97's in the world

Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation's C-97 "Angel of Deliverance" getting it's engines started for the first time since it arrived at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, NY
formerly Grace Air Ltd Boeing C-97G Stratocruiser N117GA (s/n 52-2718), 'Spirit of Corpus Christi'

This would make a fantastic repaint but unfortunately I have no repainting skills!

I concur, this would be IMHO the "cherry on top" for the MJ C97 series!!!!

I agree, what a nice way to commemorate it's service to the Berlin Airlift.

    Last two airworthy C97

A number of KC-97s survive, at least two of which are potentially airworthy: 52-2718 / N117GA Angel of Deliverance operated by the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation.,[31] and N1365N known as Tanker 97 and operated until recently as an aerial firefighting airtanker by Hawkins & Powers.

    (Scroll to the Survivors section)
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing...hter#Survivors

    Tanker 97

1365N KC97L 15938 Hawkins and Powers, Greybull, Wyoming, USA 10/97 Also see below.

How's that for data mining and research Bomber_12th (John) ?

Tanker 97 might make for a good repaint. Never seen that one before........
