    C-97 undercarriage off the ground.....

    Hi,

    I've only just registered this, and then only because of the sun's angle. You can see the rear wheels are off the ground and this is after it's landed, so really they should be down!

    Points 0, 1 & 2 are the landing gear.

    Point 0 is the nose gear, which looks OK.

    Points 2 & 3 are the main gears. In each of those points, the fourth number, -11.1, is the distance below the model's center where the bottom of the wheels will sit. The unit is supposed to be feet, but I question whether those "feet" are in the same scale as the models.

    Anyway, fiddle with that figure. Start small, like with changes on the order of about .5 or so, and experiment until you get it right.

    For future reference, this is what the first several numbers in each point mean, using the nose gear point as an example:

    point.0=1.000, 30 , 0, -11.9 etc.

    point.0=1.000 (type of point; 1 = gear, the decimal point and zeroes have no meaning), 30 (distance forward or aft of the model's center), 0 (distance left or right of the center line), -11.9 (distance below the model's center.)

    When you're experimenting, you don't have to reload the sim for every trial. Make your changes in the aircraft.cfg file, save the changes, and simply reload the plane from the Select Aircraft men
    u. If the sim is in Pause mode when the pane loads, don't forget to un-pause it, since the plane loads according to the static height and angle, then settles onto its contact points, and it won't do that while the sim is paused.
