    Strange distortion

One of you experts might know - my local pub landlady took this on a nearby beach along with a batch of perfectly normal photos on her Samsung phone.

Nobody can explain the wavy horizon !

Would it be simply because she used a phone with dubious photographic abilities and not a camera which is engineered to a greater degree of precision. I'm not being sarcastic here, but we cannot expect the same degree of quality from a phone else we may as well give up on cameras totally.

I expected someone to come up with that answer, but quite honestly, some of these phone cameras are embarrassingly competent, and this lady in particular has taken some first-class shots. The rest of the session shot on that beach is what you would expect - good resolution and no distortion whatsoever.

There has to be another factor involved here, I feel. A Google search reveals nothing similar - very odd.

Other than that, if it was OK before and doing this now then it has to be considered that it is on the fritz. Being electronic it is susceptible to all sorts of misuse and interference unlike the old fashioned film type. I still have a Pentax from the 70's which functions just great, when I can find the film to put in it, since these electronic marvels cam to the fore in the 90's I am now on my 5th camera. The previous 4 all failed chip wise. and 2 were Canons.
Nothing these days is supposed to last. The following week after registering my latest Canon EOS, they were e-mailing me in the hope I would upgrade. Sheesh.
Don't get me started ...... we are now awaiting delivery of the 3rd Dishwasher since late November last year. Needless to say I will never buy GE again.
