Hi Friends,
A "silly" question :
Since I installed ORBX packages (Vector and Central) ALL my older (and newer) effects (lights, smokes, water sprays and so on) were transformed in BLACK clouds and squares .....
Any suggestion ?

Did you run the latest ORBX Libraries after your installs?

Do you still have an Effects\texture folder with files inside it?
Black squares and clouds are a certain sign that the effects' textures are not being applied.
I can only suggest that you check the integrity of your Effects\texture folder.
Do any effects display as they should, in particular ORBX ones?
I Googled "FSX black Square smoke" and came up with this:

Look at post #9-seems that a texture .bmp file was missing
Maybe you can see what is missing in yours.....

You might check this:
1. Find "scenery.cfg" file. Open the file with notepad or similar. Find the section below.
2. The original scenery.cfg file has this.
-----------------------------------------
[Area.001]
Title=Default Terrain
Texture_ID=1
Local=Scenery\World
Layer=1
Active=TRUE
Required=TRUE
---------------------------------------
...sometimes after any ORBX install it become like this.
------------------------------
[Area.001]
Title=Default Terrain
Local=Scenery\World
Layer=1
Active=TRUE
Required=TRUE
------------------------------
revert back to original by adding
Texture_ID=1
3. Save your file
4. Run FSX.
In case this wasn't your problem try this tool to repair your standard effects:
(Avsim)
- gauges_recovery_fsx.zip

Yes, the sledge hammer approach will always work.
I think that Dieter's suggestion to just repair the effects folder
would have achieved the same.
Perhaps you can try that next time.
