ORBX Airport Maps - Freeware and Payware update

I finally got time to go through my freeware map and check it against the PDF's from ORBX.

Please read notes if you are interested.
Links to new KMZ Files and Maps will be at the bottom.

Notes:

My freeware map contains all airports listed on freeware page, not just the global freeware packs.

KSEZ Sedona and KPSP Palm Springs were included in earlier freeware packs. I think they may have been omitted after payware was released for those locations.
I do not show any files for KSEZ in freeware but I do show files for KPSP.
I have decided to leave those on the freeware map for now.

Errors in the PDF:

The following airports are listed in the PDF twice:

4K3
KLXT
KSZL
U96

The following typos:

KBTH is not an airport - should be KBIH.
KXHD is not an airport - should be KHXD.
BHHH is not an airport - should be BGGH.
WS2 is not an airport - should be WS25.

All 4 correct ICAO's are not on the PDF.

The following airports are in fact freeware airports but are not present on the PDF:

Most of them have been upgraded with the release of Southern CA. As such most of the freeware airports in Southern CA have been removed. Working on that revision now.

Note: My freeware map contains all airports listed on freeware page, not just the global freeware packs.

Notes:

1) With the release of SCA all freeware airports in southern california have been deleted - save for
three around the Yellowstone region. They are O57, O24, KBIH.

2) These airports were added to freeware map: CFC2, CYWJ, CYYQ, KOPF.

3) These airports are indeed freeware airports but are not listed on the PDF(s).

4)This is the confusing part of the maps. I dug down to the bottom of the box but didn't find a
secret decoder ring. Ouija board helped a little.....

---- KLTY and 4U3 are the same airport. KLTY was formerly known as 4U3. Only 4U3 BGL is present in the Global folder, KLTY has been deleted. Only 4U3 is on the PDF. 4U3 is the main identifier on the map.

---- KEDC and 6R4 are the same airport. KEDC was known as 6R4 before it's expansion in 2011. BGL's for both identifiers are present in the Global folder. Both are on the PDF. KEDC is the main identifier on the map.

---- KARW and 73J are the same airport. KARW was formerly known as 73J. BGL's for both are in the Global folder. Both are on the PDF. KARW is the main identifier on the map.

---- KAEJ and 7V1 are the same airport. KAEJ was formerly known as 7V1. BGL's for both are in the Global folder. Both are on the PDF. KAEJ is the main identifier on the map.

---- PHJH and JHM are the same airport. BGL's for both are in the Global folder. Both are on the PDF. PHJH is the main identifier on the map.

---- KBTA and K46 are the same airport. BGL's for both are in the Global folder. Both are on the PDF. KBTA is the main identifier on the map.

* Searching for the secondary identifiers will bring up the main identifiers on the map.

Hi Friends,
A "silly" question :
Since I installed ORBX packages (Vector and Central) ALL my older (and newer) effects (lights, smokes, water sprays and so on) were transformed in BLACK clouds and squares .....
Any suggestion ?

Maybe a little late:

Did you enable "DX10 preview" in your FSX settings? So if, this can cause your described issues. You can uncheck the mark. I would recommend to buy Steve Parsons "DX10 Scenery Fixer". It's a cheap and great tool to let FSX work properly in DX10 mode. AI aircraft get back their shadows, for example and performance seems to be more smooth....

I use gauges recovery for fsx and it puts back all the smoke effects etc. It's an amazing program. It is free and avail here

Weird that I run in to your post just now, after being frustrated with the default ac external lights with their black boxes, ever since installing FTX Gobal. Why didn't I run in to this one before beats me, as I certainly have searched for a resolution.

*Notams on the new PDF:

KIGM and UT68 are new. You must disable AEC for KIGM manually. It is not marked on PDF as others are to disable AEC. There are 39 new airports listed plus these 2, so 41 in all despite the stated 38 new airports........

KTEX has been deleted.

CFC2 - Bitumount is not on list anymore although there are 2 .bgl's in the folder. Why? I don't know. After installing the freeware pack the stock CFC2 is no longer visible and a flat texture airport is stuck askew of where the original strip was. Disabling AEC gets the old dirt strip back but the ugly texture of a flat airport is still there and looks horrid and wont go away. I hope it gets fixed. May have something to do with the new CYNR that was put in across the crick.

A stated in the new PDF some entries are denoted as -

Effective (Former) ? Effective ICAO code replaces former code; e.g. KBTA (K46).

There were a number of these in the former packs and by the mention above I thought the Effective ICAO's would in fact replace the (former code), but this is not the case.

All airports listed below are listed on my map with the Effective ICAO. A search of the (former code) will bring up the airport on my maps also.

Here is what I found in the folder:

KAEJ and 7V1 = same airport. BGL's for both are in folder.

KARW and 73J = same airport. BGL's for both are in folder.

KBTA and K46 = same airport. BGL's for both are in folder.

KEDC and 6R4 = same airport. BGL's for both are in folder.

KFHB and 55J = same airport. BGL's for both are in folder.

KPOV and 29G = same airport. BGL's for both are in folder.

KBKN and 4O3 = same airport. Only 4O3 is in the folder.

KLZD and 5B3 = same airport. Only 5B3 is in the folder.
