I seem to remember early screens of what was the abandoned CFS4 which looked pretty good. Shame MS ditched it.

Agree. After many patches + Sweet FX IL-2 CoD looks really amazing....

I bought COD and never got the hang of it, despite it's pretty looks (I must say that I never went further than the first or second patch). I guess I'm spoiled by the way FSX / P3D is working, as well as the open development that is possible here.
Best,
Mark

I grabbed the free DCS World which is imo the best combat sim out there but I got tons of headache even flying the stock Su-25T

Same here, though with the TF-51. I couldn't even work out the controls. I agree about CoD, though. Here's a couple of mine:I grabbed the free DCS World which is imo the best combat sim out there but I got tons of headache even flying the stock Su-25T
Rats - why won't anything work properly first time?
Very nice shots Yoyo! And indeed, it's the patches and the TF mods that really make this sim shine!
But the main thing is that it is nice to be able to shoot down a couple of Defiants and Blenheims in a Bf-109E model with greater detail than even the A2A one.
And although I heard horror stories about the game being heavy as hell, it actually is surprisingly light on the system!
@ David: brilliant shots there mate!
As soon as I get the hang of this, we could maybe organize a couple of online sessions?
But there is a lot to learn first!
Cheers,
Dumonceau

As good as the new sims look, I feel they're too dumbed down in terms of campaigns. IL-2:FB, Falcon 4, Comanche Hokum and CFS3 hail from ten to fifteen years ago and managed to squeeze a dynamic campaign in between visuals and FDE, while all CoD (and BoS?) and DCS can do today some scripted missions whose results carry over into the next scripted mission. Disappointing.
- Edit:
Even the one-man show Strike Fighters 2 has a "dynamic" campaign!
