    Collins Foundation Tour...

I just got back home from my local airport (KTMA, Tifton, Georgia). I watched the B-17, B-24, and P-51 start up and depart Tifton. What a beautiful sight. The P-51 made a couple low passes while waiting for the bombers to get airborne. I got into the airplanes on Monday. The tour is headed for Tallahassee, Florida, if any of you'll from that area might be interested.

They were here a couple months ago. For some reason it's always more impressive to me when the planes fly down the runway and there's just a hand full of people there, as opposed to an airshow crowd. I think it's the quite surroundings allow you to hear the "airplane noise" better... The P-51B (C?) is really nice...

Possibly next year they'll have a 2 seat P-51D on tour with them. As I was told back in August they're working on it now trying to get it ready for the next season. They're also trying to get the D rated for the pilot to fly from the rear so the passenger gets to have that million dollar ride. "Betty Jane" will be out of service for extensive work that needs to be done.

There's nothing like the sound of these bombers and the 51 starting up and taking off. It's music to the ears.

I got to enjoy the sound of these airplanes over a three day period as my house is right under the approach to Runway 15 which was in use all three days.
As I posted earlier, I was at the airport for their departure. There's just something special about actually hearing the sound as it is being made.

This inspired me to fly "Betty Jane" in airshow style from Tifton. We usually post such shots in FSX or P3D forum but this is just to liven up Randy's experience. All shots in P3D with John Terrel's amazing Mustang, repaint by Jankees. I took off, made a couple of loops and then flew down to Tallahassee like the real one did.
