    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Allahabad
So very glad the skies cleared about 40 miles out or this might be different

    OIZJ - VIAL

    It's 5 o'clock somewhere

    This should be entertaining...

Departing VIAL for either VTSP or WSSL depending on the wind. Testing shows enough fuel to go the full 1907nm to Singapore (with a modest tailwind) but what will happen while I nap over the Andaman Sea is anyone's guess.

Call Raffles and tell them to keep my reservation open for tomorrow night

    ETE 17:04

Ten and a half hours in and nothing to see but black sky and black water ( at least I THINK it's water below me) somewhere off the coast of Burma/Thailand/Malaysia. There might be a glimmer in the eastern sky to herald a dawn but it might be my eyes playing tricks.

Awake? Heck no! a fitful but beneficial series of naps has me rested if not alert for the coming day...

Also had a chance to guesstimate range and it looks like Singapore will have to wait. However I cannot be sure until I get within range of some sort of navigation aid.

    Land ho!

Also got signal from NDB at Kawthoung (KT) which indicates I' about 70 nm NW of Phuket.
Phuket! That leaves me about 80 miles short on fuel to reach Seletar... looks like it might have to be Alor Setar for fuel...

    The Falcon has landed!
Regrettably, at Alor Setar but at least it's an Official Checking Point so penalty-free.

It was the wind.. the wind, I tell ya!

Actually if the winds held on the tail or even likely zero component I should have made it. With 12Kt on the tail before I cleared the Indian coast the magic box was telling me I had about 80nm to spare. Overnight the winds shifted to about a -10 component for some 9 hours. At the end, while trying to find some speed I ended up calculating it to be about 90nm short. Not enough to test the glide capabilities of the Miles

    Close, but no cookie!

Off to Singapore (Seletar) light on fuel as it's a quick(?) 3 hour run hopefully at low level if the visibility holds up

In summary I did well relative to the plan.
Good winds helped, or didn't hinder, and I was about 9 hours better than the original flight plan. Could have shaved about an hour off the total with a bit more daring on the early legs and that might have gotten my time to be better than that Sick-Horse-Key but I'm pretty satisfied with the results for a 130HP, 110Kt prototype single-engined tourer.

I hear they have a thing called the "King's Cup" and I might have to investigate that as it's a lot shorter than a trip down-under.
