    Lightbulb NASCAR Exictement

I'm convinced it's for entertainment. But all that ruckus happening after the race, off track, & in pit row potentially can get someone injured or killed.

I doubt any fines or penalties will be levied.

I think old Brad has a payback coming his way, somewhere along the line! He doesn't fit the bill as an intimidator!

All of Brad's new found maturity went out the window Saturday night.

And these idiots are supposedly the best drivers in the the best form of motor racing in the world????????
Ugly, in fact, make that Fugly.
NASCAR needs to take a long hard look at itself and the not very attractive face it presents to motorsport enthusiasts.

    Hey All,

Yeah Matt admitted he shouldn't have tried passing Brad outside on the last restart messin up both cars. Denny admitted brake checking Brad on the cool down lap. Just the usual - Gibbs drivers doin stupid stuff.

That does not excuse Brad for doing what he did on the cool down lap. He should not have done that. Stewart stupidity I'm not even going to comment on.

I think there will be some penalties - Brad a big one for hitting Kenseth on the cool down and probably the one set of tire spin marks in the garage. I don't believe the whole burnouts in the garage stuff Hamlin said nor do I believe Brad hit a tranny - tranny skid marks would have shown up in the pictures. This is assuming the one set of marks in the two released pictures are the ONLY set of marks which look to me like he was lining up for a door. He still should not do that and should be punished.

If you look at the points after that race - none of what happened is surprising as only the top 8 go through.

1 - Joey Logano Points behind Leader
    2 - Kyle Busch 6
    3 +3 Kevin Harvick 7
    4 -1 Ryan Newman 11
    5 -2 Carl Edwards 12
    6 +1 Jeff Gordon 14
    7 -2 Denny Hamlin 15
    8 +1 Kasey Kahne 31
    9 -2 Matt Kenseth 32
    10 - Brad Keselowski 50
    11 - Dale Earnhardt Jr. 57
    11 +1 Jimmie Johnson 57

    Talledega hmmm...

I know he had a huge lead the first year of the chase, so at least two. Socialized racing really sucks!

    Hey All,

The real point standings ARE the chase standings. The idea that the old ways are best is just bogus. I remember myself the huge leads Richard Petty had and how Earnhardt could coast at the end. If you want to make money and that is what the France family that owns NASCAR wants then you spice it up at the end. Now maybe it could be done different - some system that makes late in the year races worth more than earlier or some such but the bottom line is the Frances run the show.

We will see what happens tomorrow but I gotta say what a drama queen Hamlin is. Kenseth anger I can understand. Anyway as I said we will see what NASCAR says tomorrow.

I will take honest emotion with the coming penalties over what should not have happened to Jules Bianchi - any day.

    Hey All,

And they should. Are you surprised?Hamlin being cute with the brake check just set Brad off. I think Brad saw this as his year for title number two considering how strong he has been all year - but now with only Talledega left to get in it is tough. Brad has no business hitting cars on pit road after the race - that is dangerous - the garage thing isn't that bad in my opinion - more noise than anything.

    Oh no Ed!
NASCAR is (supposedly) the pinnacle of Motor Racing, according to the resident Redneck.
I was really annoyed with the stupidity displayed at Bathurst by 'Race Control', but this latest NASCAR drama does nothing for what little credibility the series had.
'Days of Thunder' performances live and in real time.

And speaking of said Redneck ("I will take honest emotion with the coming penalties over what should not have happened to Jules Bianchi - any day. -Ed-")
One person and one person alone is responsible for the Suzuka incident, Jules Bianchi.

NASCAR gave them a slap on the wrist...
Keselowski was fined $50,000 and placed on probation through Nov. 12, a span of the next four races in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup postseason. Officials fined Stewart $25,000 and issued a probation of the same length.

Neither Hamlin nor Kenseth were penalized.

    Hey All,

Fines for Brad and Tony (hooray!) and probation for Brad. All good NASCAR saw Brads side of it (and maybe Roger Penske has some pull bein a co-owner of tracks and such with the Frances ). In addition to Jimmie, Joey, Kevin and Kasey I'm a Brad fan as some here know - so I'm good with this. Now on to Talledega.

F1 - I couldn't believe this Charlie Whiting dude saying the Bianchi incident was the result of a perfect storm... Wow like a typhoon dude. Jesus. (I need to find that article)

    From... http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2014/1...n-crash-zones/

The FIA has spoken for the first time since Jules’ Bianchi’s horrific accident in the Japanese Grand Prix last Sunday. They announced plans to find a new system for speed control through yellow flag caution zones, taking the decision to slow down away from the drivers. They will meet with teams to discuss the best means of imposing a speed control system...

However, Whiting insists that there was no necessity for the deployment of the safety car in the wake of Sutil’s crash, saying that the German’s car was not on or close enough to edge of the track to warrant its introduction.
like DUH slow the cars - take the decision away from drivers! No need for a safety car...

Ex-racer turned commentator Martin Brundle was almost killed by hitting a crane at exactly the same spot in 1994. The process by which they are used is sure to be at the centre of the focus.

So does this Whiting dude know history? Enough F1 - hopefully they learn about safety - good to see other drivers all over it.

Returning to NASCAR - Talledega is gonna be interesting!

Nothing but a slap on the wrist by NASCAR - most likely (IMHO) because they don't want to upset The Chase.

But looking at what happened to Kurt Busch, A.J. Allmendinger, & Al Unser Jr., (all 3 "fired" by Roger), there's a good chance that Brad received very stern words from Roger.

"So does this Whiting dude know history? Enough F1 - hopefully they learn about safety - good to see other drivers all over it."
I though you knew EVERYTHING 'RN'.

"Whiting has been working in racing since he was 15. He started out helping his brother Nick to prepare saloon and rally cars at their base at West Kingsdown, near the Brands Hatch racing circuit in England. By the mid-1970s Nick Whiting had become a club racing hero at Brands, driving his All Car Equipe machines with great verve and enthusiasm. In 1976 the brothers ran a Surtees in the 1976 British F5000 series for lady racer Divina Galica.

Having tasted high level competition Charlie wanted more and he joined Hesketh Racing at Easton Neston, near Silverstone, for the 1977 season. The team closed down at the end of the year and Charlie found a job at Brabham in Weybridge. He would stay at Brabham for the next 10 years, becoming chief mechanic for the World Championship successes of 1981 and 1983 and later rising to be chief engineer. Charlie stayed until the end of 1987 - shortly before Ecclestone sold the team.
In 1988 he became the FIA Formula 1 Technical Delegate, his job to scrutineer the F1 cars. Being a former mechanic and engineer was a great help as he had seen all kinds of attempts to circumnavigate the regulations over the years - and, rumor has it, was even involved in a few himself. In 1997 he was appointed FIA Race Director and Safety Delegate. He is also the Permanent Starter at F1 races and the head of the Formula 1 Technical Department at the FIA."

And his point is quite relevant.

Yep, a slap on the wrist and points penalties are off limits. A $50,000 fine... to us that is a ton of money, but when you are pulling down a million plus a year, I doubt they will even notice.

We're not the only ones who think it was a slap on the wrist...

Menzer: I think Brad got off way too easy. Even though the points probably don't matter, give him at least a 10-point deduction that would have dropped him to the bottom of the Chase Contender Round standings --€“ making it an absolute certainty that he will have to win at Talladega. $50k and a four-race probation? That's nothing more than a slap on the wrist, proving again that what Kevin Harvick said after the race was true: NASCAR loves this stuff (and so do we, but the penalties on BK still should have been greater).
